BACKGROUND: When representatives from Grapevine visited Parras last year, they toured La Quinta Manelita orphanage and learned of its dire financial situation. The Casa Hogar Quinta Manuelita was founded by Evaristo and Manuelita Madero in 1902. The La Quinta Manuelita, which has been an important part of the community for almost 100 years, operates on funds collected solely through private donations and fundraising. The orphanage can accommodate up to 60 girls; however, currently houses only 30 girls due to lack of funding. This vehicle will help the orphanage with all of its transportation needs. Staff recommends donation of the vehicle to La Quinta in the City of Parras. The vehicle will be formally presented to Parras representatives in the early fall.
