BOTANICAL GARDEN — CHANGE ORDERS NO. 1 & NO. 2
City Council to consider approval of Change Orders No. 1 & No. 2 to the Botanical
Gardens at Heritage Park construction contract with Randall & Blake, Inc. Change Order
No. 1 is in the amount of $14,998 and Change Order No. 2 is in the amount of $10,
978.00. The total for both change orders is $25,976.
FUNDING SOURCE:
Funding to cover the Change Orders is currently available in Account 171 -46680 -NW —
Open Space Funds, northwest quadrant.
BACKGROUND:
The original contract with Randall & Blake, Inc. for Phase II was for $121,554.50 and was
awarded by the City Council at the January 16, 2001 meeting. Included in this contract
were the walkways, stage, gazebo, retaining walls and the irrigation system. Parks
Maintenance staff installed the landscaping and drainage system and contracted the
installation of the sod. The add -alternate bid for the pond was very high and staff re-
designed the pond and negotiated a price with the contractor to construct the pond.
Also, as the project developed, several additional items came up that were negotiated
with the contractor. Below is a breakdown of all change order items and the negotiated
prices.
Change Order No. 1 was approved by the Director of Parks & Recreation on February
15, 2001. This change order was for the construction of the pond and waterfalls. The
amount of this change order is $14,998.00.

Change Order No. 2 was approved by the Director of Parks & Recreation on March 13,
2001 and consisted of the following items.
