HomeMy WebLinkAboutItem 13 - Irrigation Transfer Pump SystemMEMO TO MEETING DATE SUBJECT RECOMMENDATION: HONORABLE MAYOR AND MEMBERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL BRUNO RUMBELOW, CITY MANAGER NOVEMBER 19, 2013 APPROVAL FOR THE AWARD OF RFB 411 -2014 FOR AN IRRIGATION TRANSFER PUMP SYSTEM City Council to consider approval for the award of RFB 411 -2014 for an irrigation transfer pump system to inCon -trot Construction, LLC. FUNDING SOURCE: Funds are available in account 121- 48899312 -14- 000048 (Quality of Life Fund) for an amount not to exceed $199,095.00 plus a 10% contingency. BACKGROUND: Bids were taken in accordance with Local Government Code Chapter 252, Subchapter B, Section 252.021 (a) and Section 252.041 (a). Design and build a wet -well and flume pipe into Grapevine Lake and transfer water to pond by Meadowmere Soccer fields. The bid was advertised in the Fort Worth Star Telegram on October 10 and 17, 2013. 518 vendors were electronically notified of the bid through the eBid system. 30 vendors opened and viewed the bid with 5 vendors submitting bids. The bids were opened electronically and publicly on November 4, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. Bid Results: inCon -trot Construction, LLC $199,095.00 American Underwater Services $225,092.00 MPS Inc. $241,000.00 Green Scaping, LP $274,960.00 Red River Construction, Co. $371,100.00 inCon -trot Construction, LLC is lowest responsible and responsive bidder. inCon -trol Construction, LLC bid meets or exceeds the specifications outlined in the bid documents and the products offer good craftsmanship and warranty. 11/13/2013 10:01:50 AM The cost of raw water versus treated water is significantly less expensive. It is anticipated the cost to build the irrigation pond to facilitate the use of raw water for watering the Meadowmere park Soccer Complex will be recouped in approximately 15 years. Additionally the use of untreated water is better for the health of the turf and yields environmental benefit because it removed the greenhouse gas emissions associated with the treatment of the water.
