MEMO TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND MEMBERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL
FROM: ROGER NELSON, CITY MANAGER A(/
MEETING DATE: NOVEMBER 6, 2001
SUBJECT: APPROVAL OF AN ANNUAL CONTRACT, BID NUMBER 107-
2001, PAVEMENT MARKING SERVICES
RECOMMENDATION:
City Council to consider an annual contract award to United Rentals to establish fixed
contract pricing for pavement marking services for the traffic department. A bid
tabulation is attached for review.
FUNDING SOURCE:
Annual contract expenditures will be limited to the department's annual budget amount
approved for this service, Account 174-43301-093, Maintenance Capital Replacement
Fund, Transportation Infrastructure Maintenance, Traffic Signs and Signals.
BACKGROUND:
Bids were taken in accordance with Local Government Code, Section 252.021. Notice of
the bid was published in the Fort Worth Star Telegram and the Grapevine Sun on
September 13, 2001 and September 20, 2001.
The purpose of this bid is to establish fixed annual pricing for the Traffic Department's
purchase of pavement marking services, which is to be contracted on an as needed
basis. Bids were sent to three vendors with three vendors responding.
United Rentals was the overall low bid on the 31 items quoted and met all of the
required specifications. Under specifications of the bid this contract will be for an initial
one-year period with an option to renew for three additional one-year periods.
Staff recommends that an award to establish an annual contract be made to United
Rentals.
