Home My WebLink AboutItem 16 - Medical Supply Contract �(� j��;�� ._.._��C" - MEMO TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND MEMBERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL FROM: BRUNO RUMBELOW, CITY MANAGER �Z MEETING DATE: NOVEMBER 18, 2008 SUBJECT: APPROVAL TO ESTABLISH A MEDICAL SUPPLY CONTRACT FOR THE FIRE DEPARTMENT RECOMMENDATION: City Council to consider award of an annual contract to Moore Medical, LLC to provide medical supplies on an as-needed basis for the Fire Department. Annual expenditures will be limited to the budgeted amount for this service. FUNDING SOURCE: Funds are available in account 100-42200-210-3 General Fund/Operating Supplies/Fire Department/ Fire Operations. BACKGROUND: This purchase will be made in accordance with an existing Interlocal Agreement with the Local Government Purchasing Cooperative (Buyboard.com) as allowed by Texas Local Government Code, Section 271.102. Bids were taken by the Cooperative and a contract was awarded to Moore Medical, LLC under contract �ur��cr 294-08. Thi� coniract was awarded on June 1, 2008 and will expire on May 31, 2011. The Interlocal Agreement and Cooperative Purchasing Agreement satisfy all bidding requirements under the Local Government Code. � This request is for approval to establish an annual contract for the Fire Department to purchase medical supplies on an as-needed basis to be used when responding to emergency medical calls. The Fire Department currently responds to over 3,800 medical emergency calls annually. These calls are covered by a staff of 30 certified personnel each day. The emergency calls require that medical supplies of various types be maintained for emergency medical use. Moore Medical LLC, a subsidiary of McKesson Medical-Surgical, is an Internet-enabled, marketer and distributor of inedical/surgical supplies, equipment and pharmaceuticals. The Local Government Purchasing Cooperative (Buyboard.com) issued bids and awarded a contract to Moore Medical, LLC to become effective on June 1, 2008. The November 12,2008(11:42AM) „ contract provides for a 16% discount off of First Aid Supplies and Equipment from the Moore Medical Catalog (excluding pharmaceuticals and vaccines). The catalog covers a comprehensive range of inedical supply items. Attached for review is a copy of the bid tabulation. Staff recommends approval to establish an annual contract with Moore Medical, LLC for medical supplies to be ordered on an as-needed basis.
