MEMO TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND MEMBERS O THE CITY COUNCIL
FROM: ROGER NELSON, CITY MANAGER
MEETING DATE: OCTOBER 15, 2002
SUBJECT: WORKSHOP —REGIONAL TRANSPORTATION STUDY
Ms. Barbara C. Maley, Principal Transportation Planner from the North Central Texas
Council of Governments (NCTCOG), will be making a presentation detailing the
essential elements of a Regional Transportation Study.
BACKGROUND:
The NCTCOG is the Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) for the Dallas/ Fort
Worth region. As such, they analyze and plan for regional mobility needs in the area.
The Metroport Cities Partnership comprised of the cities of Grapevine, Southlake,
Trophy Club, Haslet, Colleyville, Keller, Westlake, and Roanoke are considering
submitting a request to NCTCOG for a regional transit study for the Metroport Cities
Partnership service area. The Partnership will make this request to NCTCOG only if
member cities express support for such a study.
Ms. Maley will provide an overview of what such a regional study entails, the issues it
addresses and the benefits.
