SUBJECT: PURCHASE OF A 2024 CELLTECH CARGO TRAILER
RECOMMENDATION: City Council to consider approval for the purchase of a 2024 Celltech
multi-use cargo trailer from North Texas Trailers for the Police
Department.
FUNDING SOURCE: Funds are available in the Capital Equipment Purchase Fund for a total
amount not to exceed $20,861.
BACKGROUND: This purchase is for a 2024 Celltech multi-use cargo trailer (8.5 x 20 ft) for
the Police Department to utilize for many different functions including the
transport of police motorcycles over long distances, transport of police
ATVs and mules, and for major events where large amounts of equipment
are needed to be moved, such as Santa Cops and Trunk or Treat.
Quotes were taken in accordance with City Purchasing policy. Formal bids
and advertisements are not required for purchases under $50,000. Only
two bids were received, as there are only two authorized dealers for the
Celltech trailers in the immediate Dallas/Fort Worth area. The two bidders
were North Texas Trailers and Nationwide Trailers.
North Texas Trailers submitted the lowest quote, meeting department
specifications.
North Texas Trailers $20,860.50
Nationwide Trailers $22,995.00
Staff recommends approval.
