HomeMy WebLinkAboutItem 16 - Routers MEMO TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND MEMBERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL FROM: BRUNO RUMBELOW, CITY MANAGER MEETING DATE: SEPTEMBER 17, 2024 SUBJECT: APPROVAL FOR THE PURCHASE OF CISCO C8500L ROUTER AND EQUIPMENT RECOMMENDATION: City Council to consider the approval for the purchase of a Cisco C8500L router and equipment from ePlus Inc. for the IT Department. FUNDING SOURCE: Funds are available in the Capital Equipment Purchase fund for an amount not to exceed $52,330. BACKGROUND: This purchase is for a replacement of the existing Cisco router that can no longer handle the network demand. This Cisco replacement router will be capable of handling the system data requests, network routing speed, and processor efficiency to the Internet for the growth of the city network. This purchase will be made in accordance with an existing interlocal agreement with the Region VIII Education Service Center known as The Interlocal Purchasing System (TIPS) in Texas as allowed by Texas Local Government Code, Chapter 271 and Texas Government Code, Chapter 791. Bids were taken by the Cooperative and a contract was awarded to ePlus Inc. The IT Department and Purchasing staff reviewed the contract for departmental specification compliance and pricing and determined that the contract would provide the best product and pricing for meeting the needs of the City. Staff recommends approval.
