SUBJECT: PURCHASE OF A GEARBOX FOR THE WASTEWATER TREATMENT
PLANT
RECOMMENDATION: City Council to consider approval for the purchase of a gearbox for the
Wastewater Treatment Plant from Newman Regency Group, Inc. for the
Public Works Department.
FUNDING SOURCE: Funds are available in the Utility Enterprise Fund for a total amount not to
exceed $34,311.
BACKGROUND: This purchase is for a replacement gearbox for the grit removal system at
the Wastewater Treatment Plant. The existing gearbox has reached
expected end of life and had a failure that is not cost effective to repair.
This procurement will be made as a sole source in accordance with Local
Government Code Chapter 252, Subchapter B, § 252.022. General
Exemptions (a)(7)(A).
Staff recommends approval.
