SUBJECT: APPROVAL FOR THE AWARD OF AN ANNUAL CONTRACT FOR
WATER AND WASTEWATER CHEMICALS
RECOMMENDATION: City Council to consider approval for the award of an annual contract for
RFB 48-24 for water and wastewater chemicals with Brenntag Southwest,
Chameleon Industries, Polydyne, Inc. and PVS DX Inc. for the Public
Works Department.
FUNDING SOURCE: Funds are available in the Utility Enterprise Fund for an annual estimated
amount of$500,000.
BACKGROUND: The purpose of this contract is to establish fixed annual pricing for water
and wastewater chemicals on an as-needed basis for the Public Works
Department.
Bids were taken in accordance with Local Government Code Chapter 252,
Subchapter B, Section 252.021 (a) and Section 252.041 (a). The bid
advertisement was posted in the Fort Worth Star-Telegram on August 7
and August 14. RFB 48-24 was issued through the City eBid system with
320 invitations sent out. Nine bids were received. The bid was opened
electronically on August 28 at 2 pm.
Based on the evaluation of the bid by the Public Works Department and
Purchasing, it was determined the awards be made based on the lowest
responsible and responsive bid meeting specifications for each line item
awarded. The contract will be for an initial one-year period, with four
available, one-year renewal options.
Staff recommends approval.
