1. Call to Order of Regular Meeting — Chair Melva Stanfield
Citizen Comments - Any person who is not scheduled on the agenda may address the Grapevine
Heritage Foundation Board under Citizen Comments or on any other agenda item by completing a
Citizen Appearance Request form with staff. A member of the public may address the Board
regarding an item on the agenda either before or during the Board's consideration of the item, upon
being recognized by the Chairman or upon the consent of the Board. In accordance with the Texas
Open Meetings Act, the Board is restricted in discussing or taking action during Citizen Comments.

The next meeting of the Grapevine Heritage Foundation Advisory Board will be held on Wednesday,
July 17, 2024 at 5:00 pm at the Grapevine Convention & Visitors Bureau, 636 South Main Street,
Grapevine, Texas.

The Grapevine Heritage Foundation (GHF) held their regular scheduled monthly meeting at 5:00 p.m.
on Wednesday, June 19, 2024 in the 2nd Floor CVB Boardroom of the Grapevine Convention &
Visitors Bureau, 636 South Main Street, Grapevine, Texas 76051. Present were:

1. CALL TO ORDER AND CITIZEN COMMENTS
Chairman Melva Stanfield called the meeting to order at 5:00 p.m.
Citizen Comments
Any person who is not scheduled on the agenda may address the Grapevine Heritage
Foundation under Citizen Comments by completing a Citizen Appearance Request form. In
accordance with the Texas Open Meetings Act, the Advisory Board is restricted in discussing
or taking any action during Citizen Comments.
No Citizens Comments were made.
2. WELCOME
Chairman Stanfield welcomed the CVB staff and the GHF Board members.
3. MINUTES FOR APPROVAL
Balla Wright moved to accept the minutes from the April 17, 2024 regular meeting. Wendy
Nelson seconded the motion.

4. OLD BUSINESS
A. Membership Report— David Klempin
David Klempin presented the membership report for May and June. The May active
membership total is 164. Donations received in May total $100.00. The June active
membership total is 164. Donations received in March total $3,150.00. This total includes a
new Nash Farm Sponsorship, 3-Bricks, Name the Lamb "tizzy" donation and a donation In
Memory of Burl Gilliam.
B. Sponsorship Report— Balla Wright
Treasurer Balla Wright gave the report and announced that we have a new Nash Farm
Sponsor "Moxie Scooters" and she said that we had a one time sponsorship for the NF
Fundraising Dinner of $1,500.00. At the end of the year we should have a total of
$25,250.00.
C. Nash Farm Report— Cody Scallions
Cody Scallions reported that the April First Friday was an "Eclipse Party" with 134 attendees;
There were 7 school tours with 765 participants; 7 leisure tour busses visited the farm with
200 people; 2 groups with 135 people; the day of the Eclipse brought in 89 to view the
eclipse from the farm; Spring into Nash was rainy and wet but 75 people attended; The Farm
Supper had 55 attendees; Homeschool day had 45 participants. The casual visitation for
April was 1044 bringing total visitation for April to 2408 with 319 volunteer hours by 71
volunteers.
May's First Friday "Sheep to Shawl" had 231 participants; there was 5 school tours with 509
people; 1 Girls Scout Troup with 15 that toured the farm; there were 2 groups with a total of
68 visitors. The casual visitation for May was 1 ,227, the total visitation for May was 1588
with 192 volunteer hours logged by 48 volunteers.
Nash Farm hosted Dairy Day on June 1st and had 237 guests; the farm has had 7 tour
groups with 181 attendees; 35 participated in the DAR flag retirement ceremony; Logan's
wedding reception had 350 people in attendance; the Campfire organization is bringing 230
campers for a custom tour; there are four more daycare tours and a home school day
planned for the month. The casual visitation to date is 490 with a total visitation for June to
date is 1283.
5. NEW BUSINESS
A. Donation $1,300,00 The Chairman welcomed our guest, a longtime Festivals Steering
Committee and Craft Brew Guild member Stacy Holt. He said with his many volunteer hours
he was able to apply for a grant from his employer, Arnica on behalf of the Grapevine
Heritage Foundation and presented the awarded check of $1,300.00 to our Treasurer Balla
Wright.
B. FY2024-25 GHF Budget David Klempin and Paula Newman presented the proposed
FY2024-25 GHF Budget and passed out a handout including revenue and expenses. Items

discussed were the Candlelight Tour of Homes, Nash Farm historical interpretation supplies
for the educational programs; and Palace Theater rental for the movies and brick costs.
Along with the PastForward National Preservation Conference in New Orleans, Louisiana to
be held October 28-30, 2024 Mr. Klempin said the registration fees for staff is in Historic
Preservation Budget not Heritage Foundation Budget.
Wendy Nelson made a motion to approve the proposed FY2025 Budget, Balla Wright
seconded the motion.
Budget approved with a vote of:

C. Proposed Emeritus Recognition Melva Stanfield shared that Sue Franks joined the
GHF board in 2007 and she has continuously loved and served the citizens of Grapevine.
The Palace Theater Capitol Campaign was a huge fundraising project she chaired with her
husband, she enjoyed being an Elizabeth Taylor Look-alike along with other actors and did a
great job representing the Foundation. Sue Franks also assisted in the Nash Farm
restoration capitol campaign. She was always volunteering at festival tables, Jubilee
Programs and she served as a Preservation Advocate and was a History Resource
whenever called upon with invaluable service, she has been involved in the Chamber, the
Women's Division and was awarded Woman of the Year, Business of the Year, D. E. Box
Citizen of the Year. We salute her service and shine a bright spotlight on her contributions
and her joyful spirit of leadership over the past 25+ years. Balla Wright said she has been
involved in everything in this community.
Motion to approve the Ameritas Recognition for Sue Franks made by Frances Jensen and
seconded by Wendy Nelson and Balla Wright.
Motion approved with a vote of:

Absent: 3 (Franks, Fray, Kellerman)
D. GHF upcoming committee meetings, events and activities included;
The Candlelight Tour of Homes Committee to meet following this meeting -Frances Jensen is
the Chair, David Stein and Melva Stanfield -The event is planned for Sunday, November 3,
2024 -David Klempin has 10 potential properties to be considered.
The Calendar Committee meeting will be held Thursday, June 27th at 5:00 p.m.- Wendy
Nelson is the Chair, Courtney Frey and Melva Stanfield. They will be reviewing theme ideas.
The Nash Farm Committee will meet on July 11 , 2024 at 8:30 a.m. at the Nash Farm House
Kitchen.
Cody Scallions reported that the Ice Ceram Social will be July 13 at 7:00 p.m.
The barn fire protection, Fireguard XT is currently in the process of being applied to the barn.
The CEO of the Fireguard XT company is coming out to provide full media coverage to
promote Historic Restoration and will document every step of the process.

6. LIAISON REPORTS
A. Grapevine Convention and Visitors Bureau Liaison Report— Paula Newman
Paula Newman provided some additional clarifications to the Budget.
The CVB Board is meeting tomorrow morning. The planning for Grapefest and Christmas
Capitol of Texas are under way. We have two media FAMs in town this week. Mr.
McCallum, Namoi Saenz and Heather Egan are currently traveling on a Sister City Planning
Mission with the office of the Governors Tourism Division in the United Kingdom and
Germany along with a Texas Sales Mission in Germany. They will be meeting with the new
Provost in West Lothian and with the Sister Cities Committee to plan the September 2024
Mission.
In Krems, they will be meeting with the new Burgermeister and the New Sister City Council
Liaison to discuss the 2025 Mission.
B. City Council Liaison Update — Duff O'Dell
Councilwoman Duff O'Dell reported that they recertified the reelection of Mayor William D.
Tate, Councilman Paul Slechta and Councilwoman Sharron Spencer Rogers. The council
will hold interviews next week for people applying for the Commissions and Boards, the
people reapplying will not be interviewed.
Grapevine Lake is still underwater, boats are getting too close to the flooded park areas and
submerged trees, damaging their boats. The City is dealing with the insurance due to the
soccer fields, equipment and property still under water that are a loss and will need to be
redone in the coming weeks and months.
We have two new Assistant Police Chief's that were announced this week, two very
qualified and professional police, Officer Mark Shumic and Officer Rebecca Wadsworth-
Grace.
The Grapevine Historical Society program is on Monday night at 7p.m. at the Vine. The
program will be about Old City Park in Dallas. Rosemary Brumley's daughter Jill Beam will
walk them through the history of the Park in Dallas.
The 41" of July Firework show will be moved from Grapevine Lake due to the flooding. The
first choice is a site owned by DFW Airport, the land is southwest of the Convention Center
the second location choice is Great Wolf Lodge.
7. ADJOURNMENT
David Stine moved to adjourn the meeting, Stephanie Wright seconded the motion. The
meeting was adjourned at 5:45 p.m. with the following vote:
