1. Call to Order of Regular Meeting — Chair Melva Stanfield
Citizen Comments - Any person who is not scheduled on the agenda may address the Grapevine
Heritage Foundation Board under Citizen Comments or on any other agenda item by completing a
Citizen Appearance Request form with staff. A member of the public may address the Board
regarding an item on the agenda either before or during the Board's consideration of the item, upon
being recognized by the Chairman or upon the consent of the Board. In accordance with the Texas
Open Meetings Act, the Board is restricted in discussing or taking action during Citizen Comments.

The next meeting of the Grapevine Heritage Foundation Advisory Board will be held on Wednesday,
September 18, 2024 at 5:00 pm at the Grapevine Convention & Visitors Bureau, 636 South Main
Street, Grapevine, Texas.

contact the Office of Historic Preservation at 817-410-3185 at least 24 hours in advance.

The Grapevine Heritage Foundation (GHF) held their regular scheduled monthly meeting at 5:00 p.m.
on Wednesday, August 21, 2024 in the 2nd Floor CVB Boardroom of the Grapevine Convention &
Visitors Bureau, 636 South Main Street, Grapevine, Texas 76051. Present were:

1. CALL TO ORDER AND CITIZEN COMMENTS
Chairman Melva Stanfield called the meeting to order at 5:04 p.m.
Citizen Comments
Any person who is not scheduled on the agenda may address the Grapevine Heritage
Foundation under Citizen Comments by completing a Citizen Appearance Request form. In
accordance with the Texas Open Meetings Act, the Advisory Board is restricted in discussing
or taking any action during Citizen Comments.
No Citizens Comments were made.
2. WELCOME
Chairman Stanfield welcomed everyone and introduced Kimberly Hale as the newest addition
to the GHF Board.
Kimberly Hale spoke about herself, she is happy to be a part of the GHF Board and is ready to
help out. She moved to Texas 15 years ago from California. Since coming to Texas, she has
been volunteering as a docent at Nash Farm. Kimberly Hale said her background is in living
history, she served as a docent at the Mission Inn Museum she was on the board at the

historic cemetery in her community and helped set up a perpetual endowment fund she is
extremely proud of.
3. OATH OF OFFICE
The Oath of Office was administered by the Historic Preservation Programs Secretary Kayce
Vanderpool to Wendy Nelson, David Stine, Balla Wright, Melva Stanfield and Kimberly Hale to
the Grapevine Heritage Foundation Advisory Board.
4. ELECTION OF OFFICERS
Chairman Melva Stanfield opened the floor for nominations for Vice -Chairman, no nominations
were received. Melva asked if Frances Jensen would remain in the position, she agreed.
Frances Jensen was nominated and approved as Vice -Chairman by acclimation;
Chairman Stanfield opened the floor for nomination for Treasurer. Wendy Nelson nominated
Stephanie Wright for the Treasurer position, Courtney Fray seconded the nomination, Balla
Wright approved the nomination. Stephanie Wright was nominated and approved as
Treasurer by acclimation;
Chairman Stanfield opened the floor for nominations for Secretary, Frances Jensen
recommended Wendy Nelson stay in the chair and Courtney Fray seconded the motion.
Wendy Nelson was nominated and approved as Secretary by acclimation.
5. MINUTES FOR APPROVAL
Balla Wright moved to accept the minutes from the July 17, 2024 regular meeting. Wendy
Nelson seconded the motion.
Minutes approved with a vote of:

6. OLD BUSINESS
A. Membership Report — David Klempin
David Klempin presented the membership report for July. We have 166 active memberships.
Donations received total $200.00, two donations In Memory of Burl Gilliam.
B. Sponsorship Report — Balla Wright
Treasurer Balla Wright reported the sponsorship total is $25,250.00.
C. Nash Farm Report — Cody Scallions
Cody Scallions reported that in July, Nash Farm hosted the Ice Cream Social with 226
people; they had 2 tour group with 81 attendees; 1 assisted living home group with 15
visitors; casual visitation is 982 with a total visitation for July is 1344. They had 18 volunteers
with 86 hours. The Ice Cream Social was 80% ran by volunteers.
In August we have had 1 tour group with 50 people; 1 assisted living home group with 10
attendees; so far in August we have 539 in casual visitation and total visitation at 599. The
FFA will be having a Kick off Dinner on August 26.

7. NEW BUSINESS
A. GHF Board Tour and Strategic Planning Session
Chairman Stanfield updated the GHF Board on the dates discussed at the previous meeting.
The Grapevine Historic Tour will be January 11, 2025 starting at 9 a.m. The GHF Strategic
Planning Session will be February 8, 2025 starting at 10 a.m. The GHF Board discussed and
approved the dates and times by acclamation.
B. GHF Events and Activities
Nash Farm — Cody Scallions
Cody Scallions said that September 7th is "Italian Car Fest" 10 a.m. — 2:30 p.m. with a GHF
booth, with board members to meet people in the community and share what GHF does. We
will have the roll -up signs with membership QR codes to help educate about the Foundation.
September 21 st is the "Harvest Moon Supper", Tickets are on sale online.
Candlelight Tour of Homes — David Klempin
Mr. Klempin said the Candlelight Tour of Homes is scheduled for Sunday, November 3, 2024
from 4-7 p.m. The tour starts at the Ted Ware Plaza with check in and a glass of wine.

Mr. Klempin discussed the Question and Answer Meeting with the home owners and the pre -
tour with wine and food provided by Chez Fabien.
The Calendar Committee Wendy Nelson said that the board needs good quality photos of
action shots of all kinds of activities at our historic sites. We will have the board photo taken
at the September meeting at the Bushong Cabin.
David Klempin said that staff is planning a reception to honor Sue Franks and present her
with a plaque for Emeritus status after our shortened Board Meeting, September 18, 2024 at
5:30 p.m.
8. LIAISON REPORTS
A. Grapevine Convention and Visitors Bureau Liaison Report — Paula Newman
Paula Newman reported that Mr. McCallum is at the Texas Association of CVB's
Conference in Austin, TX. The Bushong Cabin restoration job was awarded to The Ware
Brothers Construction Company. The work will begin August 22, 2024. The roof, windows,
doors and siding will be appropriately restored along with having a shed attached to the
back of the cabin.
The Settlement to City and the Heritage buildings are getting cleaned and we are fixing the
porches and other areas gearing up for the upcoming events. We are adding a panel and a
new display at Friendship Hall for Barossa Valley, Australia. We will be hosting Sister City

Delegates coming in for the festival. The buildings will all be in great shape for the night of
the Candlelight Tour of Homes and for upcoming Christmas Capital of Texas activations to
be held at the museum complex.
The CVB is gearing up for Grapefest. We will have 125 food and merchant vendors. Some
of the events have already sold out, the master class, wine pairings and some of the VIP
events.
Christmas Capitol of Texas will have many new activations and Santa's North Pole Express
will have a new show on the train. The train tickets will go on sale September 25 at 10 a.m.
online. Grapevine Christmas Village will be in the Depot District. Hometown Christmas will
return to CVB Tower Gallery. The decorating will start the last week of October.
B. City Council Liaison Update — Duff O'Dell
Councilwoman Duff O'Dell reported that the Council has approved an expansion to Chicken-
n-Pickle adding eight `Paddle' courts. A more aggressive pickleball style from Europe,
played outside.
The Council has been planning the Budget for the City. The animal shelter will have a full-
time dedicated staff to cover positions and cleaning. Los Amigos Mexican Restaurant owner
has been approved for a liquor license to sell beer and wine and margaritas. The Fun Box, a
huge bounce house for kids of all ages will return to Grapevine Mills Mall for 2 months, they
are looking for a permanent indoor location.
The Grapevine Historical Society will host their annual Banquet November 4th in the CVB
Grand Hall. Councilwoman O'Dell shared that in the 1920's there was 2 fiddle bands in
Grapevine, the Coon Hunters and the Rabbit Twisters. There will be an auction to sell the
only remaining recording of the Coon Hunters with a minimum bid of $500.00.
Wendy Nelson asked about adding a Palace Report along with the Nash Farm Report.
9. ADJOURNMENT
Courtney Fray moved to adjourn the meeting, David Stine seconded the motion. The
meeting was adjourned at 5:48 p.m. with the following vote:
