A member of the public may address the Parks & Recreation Advisory Board regarding an item on the agenda either before or during the Board’s consideration of the item, upon being recognized by the Chairman or upon the consent of the Parks & Recreation Advisory Board in accordance with the Texas Open Meetings Act, the Parks & Recreation Advisory Board is restricted in discussing or taking action during Citizen Comments. IN ACCORDANCE WITH TEXAS GOVERNMENT CODE, CHAPTER 551.001 et seq, ACTS OF THE 1993 TEXAS LEGISLATURE, THE BOARD MEETING AGENDA, WAS PREPARED AND POSTED ON THIS 9TH DAY OF SEPTEMBER 13, 2024 AT 5:00 P.M. _________________________ Chris Smith, Director of Parks & Recreation CITY OF GRAPEVINE COUNTY OF TARRANT STATE OF TEXAS The City of Grapevine Parks & Recreation Advisory Board met September 19, 2024 at 6:00 p.m. at The REC of Grapevine located at 1175 Municipal Way in Grapevine, Texas with the following members present, to -wit: MEMBERS ABSENT: Christian Ross Rob Fenton Amond Cowans Kelly McDowell Roy Robertson Kerri Stephens Renee Townsend Robyn Readicker Lavon Light LIAISONS Paul Slechta — City Council (Absent) Kathy Spradley— GCISD Board Liaison (Absent) Avery Gaudett — GHS Student Liaison (Absent) Audrey Torres — CHHS Student Liaison (Absent) Constituting a quorum with the following members of City staff: Chris Smith, Director Trent Kelley, Deputy Director Lara Brown, Administrative Manager Jennifer Kashner, General Manager of The REC Cindy Harris, Volunteer Services Supervisor Emily Marecle, Aquatics Supervisor Christian Ross called the meeting to order at 6:01 p.m. A moment of silence was observed followed by the invocation led by Christian. Approval of Minutes A motion was made to approve the August 15, 2024 meeting minutes. Motion: Robertson Second: Light. Ayes: Ross, Light, Robertson, Cowans, Townsend, Stephens, Readicker Nays: None Absent: Fenton, McDowell Approved: 7-0 Citizen Comments None Presentation Aquatics Supervisor, Emily Marecle, and General Manager of The REC, Jennifer Kashner, provided the board a summer programs update and recap of the 2024 season. Volunteer Services Supervisor, Cindy Harris, provided the board with an update on volunteer services as well as their value and importance to the Department and community. GCISD Student Liaison Update Avery Gaudett was absent, therefore; no student update for GHS was provided. Audrey Torres was absent, therefore; no student update for CHHS was provided. GCISD Board Liaison Christian Ross provided a GCISD Board update on behalf of Kathy Spradley. Updates included the board of trustees unanimously approved putting a VATRE on the November ballot, the Career Technology and Education (CTE) department will host mock interviews for students looking to polish interviewing skills, and the GHS wrestling team hosted the 5th annual tribute to 9/11 at Mustang -Panther Stadium. Citv Council Paul Slechta provided a City Council update. Update included the 121 Community Church Park approval. Parks and Recreation Updates Trent Kelley provided a Grapevine Parks and Recreation update. Updates included Lake Park fee updates, the The REC/Barker Rinker Seacat Workshop 2, NCCAA Softball World Series in Grapevine, and Fall Family Campout at Meadowmere Park. Chris Smith provided a Grapevine Parks and Recreation update. Updates included end of year budget closing, the Rotary Triangle landscape project, Sunset Live, Forest of Fears, Settlers Park Phase I, Access Life Special Event Permit, and the City received the RRCA Runner Friendly Designation.
