The total cost of this purchase is not to exceed $257,593.39. FUNDING SOURCE: Funding for this expenditure is currently available in accounts 121-42281-312-09-00001 (Council Quality of Life Fund/Minor Apparatus/Oak Grove Soccer Field/Parks and Recreation/FY09 Projects) and 174-74015-067-000 (PCMF). BACKGROUND: This purchase will be made in accordance with an existing Interlocal Agreement with the Local Government Purchasing Cooperative (Buyboard.com) as allowed by Texas Local Government Code, Section 271.102. Bids were taken by the Cooperative and a contract was awarded to each of the vendors shown below under contract number 269-07. The Interlocal Agreement and Cooperative Purchasing Agreement satisfy all bidding requirements under the Local Government Code. This request is to approve the purchase of playground equipment for various City Parks and from the vendors listed below: PARK VENDOR FUNDING AMOUNT Parr Park Playwell Group PCMF $93,444.08 Parkwood Park Recreation Consultants PCMF $31,329.00 Austin Oaks Southwest Parks and PCMF $26,073.31 Playgrounds Oak Grove Soccer Recreation Consultants Quality of Life $106,747.00 The equipment and installation was approved by Council to be purchased during FY09 with the following justifications E, i October 16,2008 (10:29AM) The equipment and installation was approved by Council to be purchased during FY09 with the following justifications: The Parr Park playground is 14 years old and was installed in 1994. The proposed playground will be replaced with a Play World structure similar to the new playground at Heritage Park but will be larger with a six bay swing set to be added. The Parkwood Park playground is 16 years old and was installed in 1992. The proposed playground will be replaced with a Landscape Structures playground. The Austin Oaks playground is 14 years old and was installed in 1994. The proposed playground will be replaced with a Game Time structure. Staff visited the HOA board to gain insight into what they would like to have at the park. The Oak Grove Soccer playground is 14 years old and was installed in 1994. The proposed playground is very similar to the new playground that will be installed at the Oak Grove Ballfield Complex. The purchases will be made from contracts established by the Local Government Purchasing Cooperative. The equipment that is under contract with this Cooperative, is consistent and compatible with the type of equipment purchased in the past and meets the safety standards required for this type of equipment. A copy of the bid tabulation from the Cooperative is attached for review. - Staff recommends approval of the purchase of the playground equipment from Playwell Group, Playworks, Inc., Recreation Consultants, Custom Swings of Texas and Southwest Parks and Playground in a total amount not to exceed $257,593.39.
