Annual expenditures will be limited to the budgeted amount for this service. FUNDING SOURCE: Funds are available in account 100-141100000/General Fund/Inventory/Fuel. BACKGROUND: , This procurement will be made as a sole source in accordance with Local Government Code Chapter 252, Subchapter B, Section 252.022 (a). This request is for approval to establish a fuel card program for the purchase of E-85 alternate fuel for the City's new flex-fuel vehicles. Currently, the City has seven vehicles that are flex-fuel. Classic Clean Fuel located at 2501 William D. Tate is the only E-85 fuel provider in our area. Purchasing E-85 fuel will reduce the cost per gallon for these vehicles from $3.15 per gallon to $3.08 per gallon. The sole fuel card vendor used by Classic Clean Fuel is Wrigfit Express. Using this fuel card vendor will allow Fleet Services to track all transactions for E-85 fuel. Fleet Services expects to use approximately $40,000 annually for the current flex-fuel fleet and for the new flex-fuel vehicles that will be purchased during this fiscal year. The fuel cards will be programmed for fuel purchases only and can be monitored by Fleet Services Staff through a computerized on-line system. Vehicles using unleaded fuel will continue to use fuel from the Service Center Fuel Depot. Wright Express also maintains additional E-85 fuel stations in other cities outside the Dallas/Fort Worth area. Staff recommends approval to establish a fuel card program with Wright Express in order to utilize fuel from Classic Clean Fuel. CD October 15, 2008 (10:23AM)
