SUBJECT: APPROVAL FOR AN INTERNET CIRCUIT FOR THE VINEYARDS AND
MEADOWMERE CAMPGROUNDS
RECOMMENDATION: City Council to consider the purchase of a three-year contract for 10GB
internet circuit from Unite Private Networks for Parks and Recreation and
Information Technology Departments.
FUNDING SOURCE: Funds are available in the Utilities budget of the 119 Lake Park Revenue
Fund for an estimated amount of$20,592.
BACKGROUND: This request is to purchase a 10GB internet circuit that will be used for in-
park Wi-Fi at The Vineyards Campground and Meadowmere Park.
Currently these parks/facilities share only a 2GB FiOS consumer grade
circuit. With this upgrade in bandwidth, PARD will have the ability to
provide better connectivity for guests, camp hosts, and event support
within these parks. Connectivity has become a high demand amenity for
guests in the RV community in particular. This commercial grade service
will also allow The Vineyards to eliminate the high cost of providing
current coax cable service to each site throughout the park as guests will
be able to take advantage of all their favorite streaming services.
Informal quotes were taken in accordance with the City Purchasing policy.
Formal bids and advertisements are not required for purchases under
$50,000. Three quotes were submitted. Unite Private Networks submitted
the lowest quote meeting specifications.
Staff recommends approval.
