HomeMy WebLinkAboutItem 17 - Plaster Replacement Dove Waterpark MEMO TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND MEMBERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL
FROM: BRUNO RUMBELOW, CITY MANAGER
MEETING DATE: OCTOBER 1, 2024
SUBJECT: PURCHASE OF PLASTER REPLACEMENT AT DOVE WATERPARK
RECOMMENDATION: City Council to consider approval for the purchase of plaster replacement
at Dove Waterpark from Sunbelt Pools for the Parks and Recreation
Department.
FUNDING SOURCE: Funds for this purchase are available in the Aquatic Repairs and
Replacement budget for a total amount not to exceed $316,997.
BACKGROUND: Commercial plaster pools typically have a life expectancy of five to ten
years for the plaster. The plaster for Dove Pool is currently twelve years
old and is showing significant wear. PARD is requesting to replace the
plaster before the wear becomes major and possibly causes damage to
other components such as the filtration system and motors. It will take
approximately six weeks to hydro-blast the existing plaster, update the tile,
and replace the plaster.
This purchase will be made in accordance with an existing interlocal
agreement with The Local Government Purchasing Cooperative (Buy
Board) as allowed by Texas Local Government Code, Chapter 271 and
Texas Government Code, Chapter 791.
Bids were taken by the Cooperative and a contract was awarded to
Sunbelt Pools. The Parks and Recreation Department and Purchasing
staff reviewed the contract for departmental specification compliance and
pricing and determined that the contract would best meet the needs of the
City.
Staff recommends approval.
