Call to Order II. Invocation III. Citizen Comments Any person who is not scheduled on the agenda may address the Senior Citizen Advisory Board under Citizen Comments or on any other agenda item by completing a Citizen Appearance Request form with the staff. A member of the public may address the Senior Citizen Advisory Board regarding an item on the agenda either before or during the Board's consideration of the item, upon being recognized by the Chairman or upon the consent of the Senior Citizen Advisory Board in accordance with the Texas Open Meetings Act, the Senior Citizen Advisory Board is restricted in discussing or taking action during Citizen Comments. OL. )VVVXA Chris Smith, Director of Parks & Recreation CITY OF GRAPEVINE COUNTY OF TARRANT STATE OF TEXAS The City of Grapevine Parks & Recreation Senior Citizens Advisory Board met October 1, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. in The REC of Grapevine, 1175 Municipal Way, Grapevine, Texas with the following members present, to-wit: MEMBERS LIAISONS Jan Ramsey Teri Rhodes- Cantu Carey Miller Duff O'Dell (Absent) Pam Price Isabell Boyd Vicki Dale Gena Bohl (Absent) Lynda Adams Ric Clark Carey Miller ABSENT LuAnn Gatts Constituting a quorum with the following members of City staff: Chris Smith, Director Trent Kelley, Deputy Director Lara Brown, Administrative Manager Andrea Tredaway, Recreation Manager Jennifer Kashner, General Manager of The REC Cindy Harris, Volunteer Services Supervisor Megan Varner, Active Adults Supervisor Jan Ramsey called the meeting to order at 1:01 pm and provided an invocation. Citizen Comments: None Approval of Minutes: A motion was made to approve the July 2, 2024 minutes. Motion: Price Second: Miller Ayes: 7-0 Nays: None Absent: Gatts New Business: Jan Ramsey introduced the new Senior Advisory Board Members (Ric Clark, Vicki Dale, and LuAnn Gatts). Chris Smith and Trent Kelley recognized Roger Jones for his service on the Senior Advisory Board and for his support of Active Adult programs over the years. Presentations & Updates: Megan Varner, Jennifer Kashner, and Cindy Harris provided an update on Active Adult programs, classes, events, and volunteer services. Chris Smith provided a recap of the recent Fall Sweep volunteer event, which hosted 197 volunteers who collected over 3,000 pounds of litter at 20 locations throughout Grapevine. Miscellaneous: Duff O'Dell was absent; therefore, no Council update was provided. Jan Ramsey provided a GRACE update on behalf of Gena Bohl. Updates included food deliveries to senior clients, recent home visits completed, and the launch of a new program called Adopt-A-Senior. Teri Rhodes-Cantu provided a Grapevine Housing Authority update, which included HUD applications opening and there is a current waitlist of 700-800 housing applications. Isabelle Boyd provided an Active Adult Laision update, which included the Senior Choir Christmas performance at The REC and a request for a modification to be made to the Active Adult bus steps, if possible. Jennier Kashner provided an update on The REC, which included Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Pictures with Santa, Christmas plans, and Water Aerobics Classes. Trent Kelley provided a Grapevine Parks and Recreation update. Updates included the Active Adult bus, budget planning for FY 24-25, The REC Performance Utilization Analysis Phase II, and the National Christian Collegiate Athletic Association Women's Softball World Series will be hosted by Grapevine Parks and Recreation in May 2025. Chris Smith provided a Grapevine Parks and Recreation update on upcoming events. Updates included the Kubota Corporate retreat on Main Street, Sunset Live, Forest of Fears, Celebra, Carol of Lights, Drone Shows, Butterfly Flutterby, the recent Rotary Club presentation, and the National Recreation and Park Association Conference.
