Call to Order II. Invocation III. Citizen Comments Any person who is not scheduled on the agenda may address the Senior Citizen Advisory Board under Citizen Comments or on any other agenda item by completing a Citizen Appearance Request form with the staff. A member of the public may address the Senior Citizen Advisory Board regarding an item on the agenda either before or during the Board’s consideration of the item, upon being recognized by the Chairman or upon the consent of the Senior Citizen Advisory Board in accordance with the Texas Open Meetings Act, the Senior Citizen Advisory Board is restricted in discussing or taking action during Citizen Comments. IV. Approve minutes from the April 2, 2024 meeting. V. IN ACCORDANCE WITH TEXAS GOVERNMENT CODE, CHAPTER 551.001 et seq, ACTS OF THE 1993 TEXAS LEGISLATURE, THE BOARD MEETING AGENDA, WAS PREPARED AND POSTED ON THIS 28h DAY OF JUNE 2024 AT 5:00 P.M. ______________________________________ Chris Smith, Director of Parks & Recreation CITY OF GRAPEVINE COUNTY OF TARRANT STATE OF TEXAS The City of Grapevine Parks & Recreation Senior Citizens Advisory Board met July 2, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. in The REC of Grapevine, 1175 Municipal Way, Grapevine, Texas with the following members present, to -wit: MEMBERS Roger Jones Carey Miller Pam Price Nancy Hauske Lynda Adams Ric Clark Carey Miller ABSENT Jan Ramsey LIAISONS Teri Rhodes- Cantu (absent) Duff O'Dell Isabell Boyd Gena Bohl Linda Troeger Constituting a quorum with the following members of City staff: Chris Smith, Director Trent Kelley, Deputy Director Lara Brown, Administrative Manager Andrea Tredaway, Recreation Manager Jennifer Kashner, General Manager of The REC Megan Varner, Active Adults Supervisor Roger Jones called the meeting to order at 1:01 pm and provided an invocation. Citizen Comments. None Approval of Minutes: A motion was made to approve the April 2, 2024 minutes. Motion: Price Second: Miller Ayes: 6-0 Nays: None Absent: Ramsey Presentations & Updates: Megan Varner provided an update on Active Adults. Updates included summer classes, field trips, and registrations. Jennifer Kashner provided an update on The REC of Grapevine. Updates included summer camps and activities throughout the month of July. Chris Smith and Trent Kelley provided an update on Lake Parks and Independence Day plans. Due to the flooding at Grapevine Lake, the annual July 4 Fireworks Extravaganza has been moved to a launch site next to Great Wolf Lodge. Miscellaneous: Duff O'Dell provided a City Council update. Updates included heat wave concerns for seniors, lake flooding, fireworks, the Oak Grove Baseball and Softball Complex, Rock N Brews ribbon cutting, Portillos will open soon in Grapevine, and Sam's Club will be reopening in the fall. Gena Bohl provided a GRACE update. Updates included the commodities program delivered 117 meals to at risk seniors in May and June, 17 seniors received transportation services in June, and window air conditioning units are available through GRACE for those in the community who need cooling units during summer. Teri Rhodes -Cantu was absent; therefore, Linda Troeger provided an update on Grapevine Housing Authority. Updates included current waitlist numbers continue to be high and will only be able to open for 2-bedroom units at this time. Isabelle Boyd was welcomed back by the board after an injury related recovery. Chris Smith provided an update for Grapevine Parks and Recreation. Updates included the upcoming Grapevine Pop N Play and Paws & Pastries events. Adiourn: A motion was made to adjourn the meeting at 2:02pm.
