This report is due to Mr. Frank Pena contacting this office. He brought it to the attention of this
office the structure at the captioned address requires engineering review for post installed piers to level
foundation which will include tunneling under the foundation to install the piers. Mr. Pena is the post
installed pier Contactor.

0 Examine the captioned structure soil data, foundation type, and differential settlements of the
foundation in accordance with generally accepted engineering methods and determine if it's in
acceptable structural condition and if not determine if repairs can be made if so, what repairs are
required.
Vinson Engineering, LLC (VEC) has completed an engineering examination at the subject property
located at the address above. VEC's findings, analysis, and conclusions are included herein. This report
contains a discussion of the information gathered during the assessment and an analysis and conclusions
with respect to the condition of the subject property at the time of VEC's assessment, which should be
read in full, The conclusions contained herein are basei, on infor-ination ;� o Oate.
A geotechnical engineering report is not available, and one is recommended to obtain site specific
characteristics of the supporting soils. In lieu of that report, nominal non -site -specific values in the 2021
International Building Code will be used based on the soil as determined by United States Department of
Agriculture Soil Conservation Service,
The USDA Soil Conservation Service publishes a detailed soil data map of each county for industrial,
agricultural, and engineering uses. According to their data, the type of soil near this property is either
Koc—Konsil Fine Sandy Load or RaA—Rader Fine Sand Load, which is a relatively low shrink/swell potential
(Appendix).
Structural drawings are not available.

To gain insight into condition of existing foundation strength, and to its level of "flatness", relative
elevations were taken at the finished floor foundation surfaces. Selected locations throughout the
structure were measured using a Zip Level Pro-2000, which has a measurement tolerance of ±0,1 inch over
a range of 200 feet.
These measurements are relative since they are not referenced to a permanent benchmark.
Adjustments for differences in floor covering thicknesses and built-in elevation changes (i.e. step
ups/downs if applicable) were made during this relative elevation survey. Typically, separate foundations,
sloped areas, such as porches, patios, and garage floors, are excluded from the survey since they are
usually constructed with built-in slopes to facilitate drainage.
The results are that the structure has settled excessively. A half -inch of settlement causes

Tunneling,,
1. Starting at exterior of the foundation, excavate a 3'x3' tunnel using spades, picks, shovels and chip
hammers to excavate beneath slab. This is intended to gain access to the interior of the structure
without having to break the slab foundation
2. Once at the location of work, install steel and pressure piers as shown in this appendix

To level the structure:
1. New Perimeter Steel Piers: Twenty-eight (28) new exterior double walled solid steel cylinder piers.
Installation of exterior steel piers will involve excavation of perimeter beneath concrete footing,
and the raising of foundation via hydraulic jacks. The bottom of the steel pier is 6" long and fitted
with a friction reduction pad to ensure a smooth installation process. Piers will overlap at 6"
intervals forming a single continuous and immobile pier.
2. Install twenty-two (22) new double walled solid steel cylinder piers on the interior of the structure
beneath the interior beams. Piers will be installed via tunnel beneath the interior slab, excavation
beneath interior concrete footing, and the raising Of foundation via hydraulic jacks. The interior
beams are not yet known; the number of interior piers is approximate, New recommendations may
be made, Interior piers are intended to raise interior slab as prudently as possible to prevent
sagging.
The tributary areas associated with each pier were computed and the foundation has enough capacity
to resist the applied loads. Therefore, the foundation is in accordance with the 2021 International Building
Codes.
