SUBJECT: REQUEST TO PURCHASE FOR AN INTERNET CIRCUIT
RECOMMENDATION: City Council to consider the purchase of a three-year contract for an
internet circuit from United Private Networks for the Information
Technology Department.
FUNDING SOURCE: Funds are available in the General Fund (IT Department) for an estimated
amount of$18,900.
BACKGROUND: This request is to purchase a 10GB internet circuit that will be used to
replace multiple ROS circuits the IT Department uses for bandwidth. This
circuit upgrade will reduce our overall cost for the current five circuits,
while also increasing our bandwidth. In addition to lower cost and
increased bandwidth, we will be able to utilize this circuit for our Disaster
Recovery site.
Informal quotes were taken in accordance with the City Purchasing Policy.
Formal bids and advertisements are not required for purchases under
$50,000. Three quotes were submitted. Unite Private Networks submitted
the lowest quote meeting specifications.
Staff recommends approval.
