SUBJECT: PURCHASE OF SOFTWARE SUPPORT FOR VIRTUAL SERVER
ENVIRONMENT FOR THE DATA CENTER
RECOMMENDATION: City Council to consider approval for the purchase of Nutanix software
license and production support of the virtual desktop environment for the
city from Waypoint.
FUNDING SOURCE: Funds are available in the General Fund (IT Department) for an amount
not to exceed $64,777.
BACKGROUND: This purchase is to support the Nutanix virtual software support for the
City. The software licensing and production support provides maintenance
updates for the City's virtual machines and servers.
This purchase will be made in accordance with an existing interlocal
agreement with Choice Partners a division of Harris County Department of
Education as allowed by Texas Local Government Code, Section 271 and
Texas Government Code, Section 791.
Bids were taken by the Cooperative and a contract was awarded to
Waypoint. The IT Department and Purchasing staff reviewed the contract
for departmental specification compliance and pricing and determined that
the contract would provide the best product and pricing for meeting the
needs of the City.
