SUBJECT: ANNUAL CONTRACT FOR FIRE, SECURITY SYSTEMS, AND
MONITORING SERVICES
RECOMMENDATION: City Council to consider approval of an annual contract for fire, security
systems, and monitoring services from Firetrol Protection Systems, Inc.
for the Public Works Facilities Services Department.
FUNDING SOURCE: Funds are available in the General Fund (Facilities) for an annual
estimated budgeted amount of$30,000.
BACKGROUND: The purpose of this contract is to establish fixed annual pricing for fire
system testing and monitoring, backflow testing, supplies and equipment.
This service is for monitoring and service of fire suppression systems and
backflow prevention testing on city owned and operated systems.
This purchase will be made in accordance with an existing interlocal
agreement with The Local Government Purchasing Cooperative (Buy
Board) as allowed by Texas Local Government Code, Chapter 271 and
Texas Government Code, Chapter 791. The contract is for an initial one-
year period, with two additional one-year renewal options available.
Bids were taken by the Cooperative and a contract was awarded to
Firetrol Protection Systems, Inc. Facility Services and Purchasing staff
reviewed the contract for departmental specification compliance and
pricing and determined that the contract would provide the best service
and pricing for meeting the needs of the City.
Staff recommends approval
