SUBJECT: PURCHASE OF AMMUNITION FOR THE POLICE DEPARTMENT
RECOMMENDATION: City Council to consider approval for the purchase of ammunition from
Precision Delta Corp for the Police Department.
FUNDING SOURCE: Funds are available in the General Fund (Police Department) for an
annual estimated amount of$50,105.
BACKGROUND: This purchase is for ammunition for Department firearms training and
qualifications throughout the year. The Department annually purchases
9mm and .223 ammunition to maintain proficiency with Department issued
firearms. Due to periodic ammunition shortages, the Department
purchases ammunition when available to maintain adequate Department
inventory. The maintenance of ammunition inventory ensures the
Department continues with training and qualifications.
This purchase will be made in accordance with an existing interlocal
agreement with The Local Government Purchasing Cooperative (Buy
Board) as allowed by Texas Local Government Code, Chapter 271 and
Texas Government Code, Chapter 791.
Bids were taken by the Cooperative and a contract was awarded to
Precision Delta Corp. The Police and Purchasing staff reviewed the
contract for departmental specification compliance and pricing and
determined that the contract would provide the best service and pricing for
meeting the needs of the City.
Staff recommends approval
