Any person who is not scheduled on the agenda may address the Convention & Visitors
Bureau Board under Citizen Comments or on any other agenda item by completing a
Citizen Appearance Request form with staff. A member of the public may address the
CVBB regarding an item on the agenda either before or during the Board's consideration
of the item, upon being recognized by the Board Chair or upon consent of the CVBB. In
accordance with the Texas Open Meetings Act, the CVBB is restricted in discussing or
taking action during Citizen Comments.

MINUTES
The Grapevine Convention & Visitors Bureau Board of Directors met in Session on Tuesday,
December 10, 2024 at 7:00 p.m. at the Grand Hall of the Grapevine Convention and Visitors
Bureau, 636 S. Main Street, Grapevine, Texas with the following persons in attendance:

Special guests attending included Mayor William D. Tate and members of the City of Grapevine
City Council.

CALL TO ORDER
Board Chairman, Joe Szymaszek, called the meeting to order at 7:14 p.m.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Board Chairman Szymaszek called for a motion to approve the minutes from the meeting. With
a motion from Jeff Babcock and seconded by Mark Terpening, the minutes from the November
21, 2024 meeting were approved.
At 7:16 p.m. Chairman Szymaszek suspended the meeting.
At 8:22 p.m. Chairman Szymaszek resumed the meeting and thanked Mayor William D. Tate,
City of Grapevine City Council, CVB Board members and CVB staff for attending the meeting.
He then welcomed CVB Executive Director, Paul W. McCallum to the podium.
PRESENTATION COMMEMORATING THE 50 H ANNIVERSARY
Director McCallum shared an abbreviated history of the Grapevine Convention and Visitors
Bureau. He introduced the first fulltime Convention and Visitors Bureau Director, Bob Phillips
and thanked him for the part he played in changing the once Grapevine Tourist and Convention
Bureau to the Grapevine Convention and Visitors Bureau. He spoke of the grassroots effort to
build up the beloved programs and festivals and the core group of dedicated staff and
volunteers that kept them going and grew them into the robust events they are today.
ONGOING BUSINESS
Director McCallum reported on the achievements from the year. He shared a video highlighting
each division of the Convention and Visitors Bureau along with significant successes. He spoke
to the dedication of the staff and praised them for facing challenges head on.
NEW BUSINESS
Director McCallum introduced the employees that joined the Convention and Visitor's Bureau
over the last year. He then presented the following staff awards: Rookie of the Year Award to
Niki Barham, Sales Administrative Secretary, Joey Wilkins "Can Do" Award to Scott Baker who
serves as the Creative Marketing Manager, and the Unsung Hero Award to Administrative
Secretary, Katy Hintze. Director's Awards went to Catherine Haberman, Darryl Gauthier, Patrick
McCage and Heather Egan. The Employee of the Year went to Controller, Shelley Wimberly. He
also recognized Nick Ramirez for his 36 years of service to the Convention and Visitors Bureau
and congratulated him on his upcoming retirement. Director McCallum thanked the CVB staff
for their tireless work over the past year and thanked the CVB board, City Council and Mayor
Tate for their leadership and support.
Mayor Tate addressed the Council, Board and staff, reminiscing about Grapevine Christmases of
yesteryear and all of the changes that our little town has seen. He spoke of the robust year of
festivals and events. He praised the CVB staff for their commitment to the community. He
stated the importance of the hospitality industry and the importance of it to Grapevine.
Director McCallum and Chairman Szymaszek echoed Mayor Tate's sentiment and gratitude to
staff.
ADJOURNMENT
There being no further business, Board Chairman Szymaszek called for a motion to adjourn the
meeting at 9:44 p.m.
