FUNDING SOURCE: Upon approval of the attached appropriation ordinance, funds will be available in the Utility Enterprise Fund in an amount estimated of $550,000. BACKGROUND: The MCC for Train 2 at the Wastewater Treatment has failed. Given the long lead times on equipment, the MCC has been purchased by previous action as the design for the installation by Gupta and Associates was developed. The proposed action is to retain Graybar Electric to demolish the old service and install the new MCC including connections to the Automatic Transfer Switch (ATS) and to the emergency generator. The total amount of proposed work is $488,568. This amount was rounded up to $550,000 as a contingency for changes found in the field. This purchase will be made in accordance with an interlocal agreement with Omnia Partners Public Sector, Region VIII Education Service Center in Texas as allowed by Texas Local Government Code, Section 271 and Texas Government Code, Section 791. Bids were taken by the Cooperative, and a contract was awarded to Graybar Electric. The Public Works and Purchasing staff reviewed the contract for departmental specification, compliance, and pricing and determined that the contract would provide the best service and pricing for meeting the needs of the City. Staff recommends approval.
