HomeMy WebLinkAboutItem 10 - Lightning Warning SystemMEMO TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND MEMBERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL FROM: BRUNO RUMBELOW, CITY MANAGER MEETING DATE: JANUARY 21, 2025 SUBJECT: PURCHASE OF SOFTWARE AND EQUIPMENT FOR LIGHTNING WARNING SYSTEM RECOMMENDATION: City Council to consider approval for the renewal of software and equipment for the lightning warning system at the athletic complexes from Perry Weather Consulting for the Parks and Recreation Department. FUNDING SOURCE: Funds are available in the General Fund (Parks) for an amount not to exceed $22,661. BACKGROUND: Perry Weather systems provide emergency alerts for the safety of staff and citizens that utilize our athletic complexes. It provides both a proactive weather notification system for lightning, rainfall, temperature, wind, and radar. The cloud -based software portion incorporates a web dashboard interface and mobile app that is completely wirelessly synced to Outdoor Warning Systems. These Outdoor Warning Systems have pre-recorded voice capabilities, multiple light options for emergency scenarios, and a remote manual triggering option. The renewal of the lightning warning system will be made as a sole source purchase from Perry Weather Consulting in accordance with Local Government Code Chapter 252, Subchapter B, §252.022. General Exemptions (a) (7) (A). Staff recommends approval. JJ/TM
