SUBJECT: ANNUAL CONTRACT FOR VALVE AND HYDRANT MAINTENANCE
RECOMMENDATION: City Council to consider approval for an annual contract for valve and
hydrant maintenance from Hydromax USA for the Public Works
Department.
FUNDING SOURCE: Funds are available in the Utility Enterprise Fund for an annual estimated
amount of $75,000.
BACKGROUND: The purpose of this contract is to establish fixed annual pricing for various
maintenance, repairs, and rebuild services as needed for valves and fire
hydrants in the city. The City has more than 8,000 valves and more than
2,800 hydrants. The bulk of the proposed work will be to repair fire
hydrants. However, this contract also allows for the maintenance of valves
on an as -needed basis.
Purchases will be made in accordance with an existing Interlocal
Cooperative Agreement with The City of Garland, Texas as allowed by
Texas Local Government Code, Section 271 and Texas Government
Code, Section 791.
The City of Garland, Texas solicited bids on 1215-22, Annual Contract for
Valve & Hydrant Maintenance. Based on evaluations by the City of
Garland, Texas, Hydromax USA was awarded the contract. The contract is
for an initial one-year period with two one-year available renewals.
Staff recommends approval.
