1. Call to Order of Regular Meeting — Chair Melva Stanfield
Citizen Comments - Any person who is not scheduled on the agenda may address the Grapevine
Heritage Foundation Board under Citizen Comments or on any other agenda item by completing a
Citizen Appearance Request form with staff. A member of the public may address the Board
regarding an item on the agenda either before or during the Board's consideration of the item, upon
being recognized by the Chairman or upon the consent of the Board. In accordance with the Texas
Open Meetings Act, the Board is restricted in discussing or taking action during Citizen Comments.

The next meeting of the Grapevine Heritage Foundation Advisory Board will be held on Wednesday,
April 16, 2025 at 5:00 pm at the Grapevine Convention & Visitors Bureau, 636 South Main Street,
Grapevine, Texas.

contact the Office of Historic Preservation at 817-410-3185 at least 24 hours in advance.

The Grapevine Heritage Foundation (GHF) held their regular scheduled monthly meeting at
5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 19, 2025, in the 2nd Floor Grand Hall of the Grapevine
Convention & Visitors Bureau, 636 South Main Street, Grapevine, Texas 76051 . Present were:

1. CALL TO ORDER AND CITIZEN COMMENTS
Chairman Melva Stanfield called the meeting to order at 5:03 p.m.
Citizen Comments
Any person who is not scheduled on the agenda may address the Grapevine Heritage
Foundation under Citizen Comments by completing a Citizen Appearance Request form. In
accordance with the Texas Open Meetings Act, the Advisory Board is restricted in discussing or
taking any action during Citizen Comments.
No Citizens in attendance.
2. WELCOME
Chairman Stanfield welcomed the CVB staff and the GHF Board members. She thanked
everyone for attending the meeting tonight during Spring Break Week.
3. MINUTES FOR APPROVAL
Balla Wright moved to accept the minutes from the February 19, 2025 regular meeting.
Stephanie Wright seconded the motion.
Minutes approved with a vote of:
Ayes: 6 (Stanfield, Nelson, S. Wright, B. Wright, Hale, McCallum)
Nays: 0 None
Absent: 4 (Nelson, Fray, Stine, Kellerman)

4. OLD BUSINESS
A. Membership Report — David Klempin
Melva Stanfield and David Klempin presented the membership report for January. The January
membership total is 170. In donations we received $9,000. That total includes $6,000 in Nash
Farm Sponsorships; $500 NF 12x12 brick; $1,500 Palace 12x12 brick; $1,000 Palace seat
brass plate.
B. Sponsorship Report— Stephanie Wright
Treasurer Stephanie Wright reported that all the spots are filled, except for Dairy Day. Beth
Marie's Old Fashioned Ice Cream would like to make an in-kind donation of 25 gallons of ice
cream. Stephanie Wright and Kimberly Prack would approve the taste to make sure it would
make a good addition to the selections for Dairy Day. Invoices have been sent out and we are
at $27,250.00 in Sponsorship's for the year.
C. Palace Theatre Report- Frances Jensen
Paul Newman reported that there were 18 events at the Palace, with 3,992 people in
attendance in February and 13 new events booked for future dates including Lancaster rental,
movies and live performances. The duct work was replaced and the AC unit was repositioned,
everything is now working well. She shared the new brochure for the Palace that is now
available along with some new rack cards that are printed for special events. This upcoming
weekend, there are two live events, the tickets are online and close to selling out.
D. Nash Farm Report— Melva Stanfield and Kimberly Prack
Melva Stanfield reported that in February NF hosted a Workshop that processed 30 pounds of
Sausage and Bacon with 8 people in attendance. There was one unscheduled group with 28
people. The Casual visitation was 815 with a total visitation at the farm was 851. There were
11 volunteers with 66 hours for the month.
In March, First Friday "Spring on the Farm" had 242 people attend; There was one leisure tour
with 20 visitors from Wisconsin; Homeschool day had 237 people; Spring break so far had
1,349 attendees with over 200 paid activities purchased; The Biscuits and Butter Workshop
scheduled for March 22 is sold out; so far for March the casual visitation is 491 and the total
visitation to date is 2,160.
Kimberly Prack said that the Marketing staff requested we send pictures to Ellen Stallcup and
Madelyn Winters at the CVB to get posted on the Facebook page and social media. We have
seen more posts popping up on Social Media.
E. Update on Nash Farmhouse foundation repair- Paul W. McCallum
Mr. McCallum reported that there were two foundation experts that submitted in-depth reports
and bids for the foundation repair work for the farmhouse. We have chosen H. D. Snow and
Sons House Moving to complete the work. They will correct some of the existing piers and
install some new piers that will support the house for many generations to come. The work is
scheduled to begin next week and should be done in 3 weeks. They will advise the Nash Farm
staff if any special items need to be moved or secured during the work. The drainage issues
will also be addressed by Wright Construction Company to help move water away from the
structures on the farm.
F. Update on the GHF Strategic Planning Work Plan assignments and committees

Melva Stanfield reported that there is an overview handout from the Strategic Planning session
that shares some of the items discussed and includes the volunteer assignments. She said that
she will be calling each board member for an update. (Protectors, Education and Preservation)
to keep this Strategic Plan moving forward. She called on some of the board for a report:
Stephanie Wright - Increase attendance to Sell Out- She reported that Butter and Biscuits
Workshop is sold out;
Kim Hale — Create a plan for funding & capacity;
Wendy Nelson - Tie the Why to Festivals - She has established a committee including
Stephanie Wright, Wendy Nelson and Leight Lyons. They are working on an idea for a highlight
real that could be played during volunteer orientation and volunteer appreciation to show how
their volunteer efforts are helping Grapevine;
Balla Wright - Create a Speaker's Bureau — She would like reach out to different organizations
to share the history of the GHF, the NF house, and Grapevine and to share that we are
preserving the history in Grapevine; bring in different speakers and educate the committee and
all the new people coming to town. She said she will need a script that will be practiced and
shared by the speakers.
5. NEW BUSINESS
A. Consider the 2025 GHF Preservation Advocacy Award Nominations and take any
necessary action — David Klempin
David Klempin presented four nominations to be considered:
Preservation/Conservation Project Award -314 West College Street the 1899 Buckner House;
Rehabilitation Project Award - 512 Estill Street the 1946 Higgins House;
Restoration Project Award - 306 Austin Street the 1911 Berry House;
Restoration Project Award - 905 East Worth Street the 1953 Crabtree House.
The awarded houses would be presented at the May 6th, 2025 City Council Meeting with a
reception to follow.
Wendy Nelson moved to approve the 4 nominated houses for the 2025 Preservation Advocacy
Awards; Balla Wright seconded the motion.
Nominations approved with a vote of:

Nays: 0 None
Absent: 4 (Nelson, Fray, Stine, Kellerman)
Wendy Nelson reported that the co-chairs will present the Main Street Fest plans at the City
Council Meeting the same night as the Preservation Advocacy Awards.
B. GHF Upcoming Events and Activities- Melva Stanfield
Chairman Stanfield reported that the Spring Fundraiser Dinner (April 12) has 60 tickets
available for sale in line and reminded that Spring into Nash (April 26) is only 5 weeks away.
There is a board signup sheet that the Chairman will email to the board.

A. City Council Liaison Update — Duff O'Dell
Councilwoman Duff O'Dell reported that the City Council is anticipating the upcoming elections.
They had no Zoning change cases presented last night and the meeting was brief. They are
planning a going away event for Mayor Pro Tern Darleen Freed for her many years in office.
Grapevine High School band performed in Dublin, Ireland for the St. Patrick's Day Parade.
The Sister City Program is traveling to Parras, Mexico for a mission for their hospital dedication
April 4th. Darleen Freed and the President of Baylor Scott & White Hospital who donated
equipment and supplies for the new hospital will be attending the dedication.
B. Grapevine Convention and Visitors Bureau Liaison Report — Paul W. McCallum
Mr. McCallum congratulated Duff and Patrick O'Dell on their 50th Wedding Anniversary.
Mr. McCallum just returned from the Sales Mission in New York City, where the CVB Sales
team hosted the 37th Annual St. Patrick's Day Celebration with 2 events, a reception on St.
Patrick's Day and a luncheon the day after, they were well attended and brought in many great
leads that are serious about business. The sales team is constantly on the road this time of
year. They have been booking convention and leisure groups.
Coming up, April 12th is the 33rd Annual Spring Wine Trail. There will be nine tasting rooms and
five art galleries, starting at Peace Plaza with the Blessing of the Vines.
Tomorrow night is the second Main Street Fest Steering Committee meeting with Leon and
Tracy Leal the MSF Co-Chairs.
The CVB staff is working on everything all at once.
7. ADJOURNMENT
Wendy Nelson moved to adjourn the meeting; Stephanie Wright seconded the motion. The
meeting was adjourned at 6:02 p.m. with the following vote:
