FROM: BRUNO RUMBELOW, CITY MANAGER
MEETING DATE: MAY 6, 2025
SUBJECT: RENEWAL OF ANNUAL CONTRACT FOR LIFEPAK DEVICES AND
EQUIPMENT LEASE PROGRAM
RECOMMENDATION: City Council to consider the approval for the renewal of an annual contract
for Lifepak devices and equipment lease program with Stryker Sales
Corporation, Inc. for the Fire Department.
FUNDING SOURCE: Funds are available in the General Fund (Fire Department) for an amount
not to exceed $392,023.
BACKGROUND: The Fire Department utilizes various equipment such as cardiac monitors,
stair chairs, mechanical CPR devices, AEDs, stretchers, and loading
systems to perform daily responses. This equipment has a manufacturer's
recommended life span, and this program provides the department with
the latest technology and will refresh that technology with the latest
products as the technology is upgraded. The program guarantees that the
equipment will never exceed the manufacturer's recommended service life
and will provide maintenance on all products throughout the contract. The
cost per year will be fixed for the ease of budgeting and will give the City
significant savings over the contract's life.
This procurement will be made as a sole source in accordance with Local
Government Code Chapter 252, Subchapter B, § 252.022. General
Exemptions (a)(7)(A). The contract was for a 10-year lease. If approved,
this will be the first lease renewal available.
Stryker Sales Corporation is the documented sole source support services
provider for the LifePak Cardiac Monitor/Defibrillators, Automatic External
Defibrillators (AED) devices that are kept in City buildings.
Staff recommends approval.
