SUBJECT: APPROVAL OF A RESOLUTION FOR THE PURCHASE OF
EXERCISE EQUIPMENT FOR THE NEW PUBLIC SAFETY
BUILDING
RECOMMENDATION:
City Council to consider approval of a resolution for the purchase of exercise equipment
for the new Public Safety Building from Comm-Fit through an interlocal agreement with
The Local Government Purchasing Cooperative (BuyBoard).
FUNDING SOURCE:
Funding for this purchase is currently available in accounts 1 1 4-42281-21 0-5 for
$15,000.00 (Minor Tools and Equipment), 177-42281-019-209 for $18,301.28 (Minor
Tools and Equipment) and 177-48860-019-209 for $51,698.72 (Mach & Equip-Pub Saf
Bldg.) for a total amount not to exceed $85,000.00.
BACKGROUND:
This purchase is for exercise and fitness equipment for the Grapevine Public Safety
Building. Of the $85,000.00, $70,000.00 was included in the budgeted amounts for the
building project and $15,000.00 was donated by Baylor Scott & White-Grapevine to the
Grapevine Police and Fire Departments to be utilized for fitness initiatives.
This purchase will be made in accordance with an existing interlocal agreement with The
Local Government Purchasing Cooperative (BuyBoard) as allowed by Texas Local
Government Code, Chapter 271 and Texas Government Code, Chapter 791.
Bids were taken by the Cooperative and a contract was awarded to Comm-Fit. The Police
Department staff and Purchasing reviewed the contract for departmental specification
compliance and pricing and determined that the contract would provide the best product
and pricing for meeting the needs of the City.
Staff recommends approval.
