HomeMy WebLinkAboutItem 11 - Virtual Desktops EndpointsMEMO TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND MEMBERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL FROM: BRUNO RUMBELOW, CITY MANAGER MEETING DATE: JUNE 3, 2025 SUBJECT: PURCHASE FOR REPLACEMENT ENDPOINTS FOR CITY STAFF USED TO CONNECT TO VIRTUAL DESKTOPS RECOMMENDATION: City Council to consider approval for the purchase of replacement endpoints for city staff to connect virtual desktops from Waypoint Business Solutions for the IT Department. FUNDING SOURCE: Funds are available in the Capital Equipment Purchase Fund for a total amount not to exceed $101,612. BACKGROUND: This purchase request is to replace the City's outdated thin client devices which city staff use to access their virtual desktops. This end -of -life hardware can cause performance issues for city staff accessing their virtual desktops and could lead to security vulnerabilities. This purchase will be made in accordance with an existing interlocal agreement with The Local Government Purchasing Cooperative (Buy Board) as allowed by the Texas Local Government Code, Chapter 271 and the Texas Government Code, Chapter 791. Bids were taken by the Cooperative and a contract was awarded to Waypoint Business Solutions. The IT Department and Purchasing staff reviewed the contract for departmental specification compliance and pricing and determined that the contract would best meet the needs of the City.
