Grapevine citizen Priscilla Davenport presented a proposal to assist Grapevine Animal
Control with Facebook in an effort to increase adoptions and rescues of the animals at
the shelter. Her goal is to make information easier to locate and more comprehensive.
Jason Steinle asked about Grapevine Animal Shelter current procedures
concerning rescue groups and about ACO current status with
Petfinder.com and Facebook.
ACO Kristina Valentine responded informing the committee that approved
rescue groups are notified by telephone and e-mail about the available
animals at the shelter. Grapevine currently use Petfinder.com and the
Facebook is active.
Captain Hall advised that the future direction of the Grapevine Shelter is to
be a "No Kill" shelter.
Debra Brantner stated rescue groups don't always get back with shelters
as well as they are privately owned and operated. Brantner stated 98% of
Hurst Animal Shelter contacts come from Petfinder.com. Brantner stated
an issue associated with Facebook by Hurst is that animals are uploaded
by unknown persons to Craigslist.
