CITY OF GRAPEVINE

The City of Grapevine Parks & Recreation Advisory Board met July 17, 2025 at 6:00 p.m. in Vintage
Hall at The Vine Arts & Events Center located at 225 West Worth in Grapevine, Texas with the following
members present, to-wit:

Christian Ross called the meeting to order at 6:01 p.m. A moment of silence was observed followed by
the invocation led by Christian Ross.
Conduct Oath of Office for appointed and reappointed Board Members.
The Oath of Office was administered to Kelly McDowell, Robyn Readicker, and Kerri Stephens.
Board to elect Vice-Chairperson and Secretary
A motion was made to elect Levon Light as Vice-Chairperson.

Presentation
Chris Smith reported on the Phase 1B trail extension at Settlers Park and answered questions related
to it. He described the Phase I amenities that have been constructed and presented a new 8-foot-wide,
1,300-linear-foot concrete trail extension adjacent to the DFW Hilton.
Steven Jones provided a recap of Grapevine’s July 4th Firework Extravaganza and the holiday
weekend, addressing various questions. He discussed the use of Placer.ai to collect data on the
number of visitors who attended the Lake Parks during the July 4th holiday weekend.
Ric Clark inquired about the origins of the visitors and the number of emergency services calls made
during the July 4th festivities.
Martin Guthrie asked how Placer.ai gathers data from cellular devices in a selected area.
GCISD Student & Board Liaison Update
Brynley Inglis, student liaison from Grapevine High School, reported that Strength and Conditioning
camps have been conducted for various sports, and incoming freshmen have started practicing with
their teams throughout the summer. Summer school is available for students looking to advance in or
catch up on their classes. The Mustang Roundup will take place on Wednesday, July 30, and Thursday,
July 31. Fish Camp for incoming freshmen is scheduled for Friday, August 8. The first day of school is
August 13. Currently, Grapevine Cheer is installing green awareness bows at various homes and
businesses to support the Kerr County flood victims. All proceeds collected will go directly to the Kerr
County Flood Relief Fund, which provides urgent relief and supports long-term rebuilding efforts after
the devastating floods. The team has already distributed over 200 bows to the community.
No update from CHHS.
Kathy Spradley, the Grapevine-Colleyville ISD Board Liaison, provided the following updates: the
district offices are open, AP final test scores have been reported with the highest results in 15 years,
and today marked the last day for new teacher orientation class. The Education Foundation New
Educators’ luncheon will be held on Wednesday, July 30. The Back-to-School Fair will be held on
Saturday, August 2 and Convocation for GCISD Faculty is planned for Wednesday, August 6.

City Council
Chris Coy reported that the City Council has approved a plan with Republic for bulk trash pickup. Bulk
pickup for residents in north Grapevine will occur on Tuesdays, while residents in south Grapevine will
have their pickup on Wednesdays. On July 15, the City Council approved an automotive wrap company,
along with a new NBT Bank. Additionally, the City Council is currently working through the budget
process ahead of the new fiscal year in October.
Parks and Recreation Updates
Trent Kelley provided an update on several local events and projects. The Paws and Pastries event
will be at the Bark Park on Saturday, July 19. Trace Worthy is retiring at the end of July, and Trent
invited the Board to a come-and-go celebration. Improvements will be made to the fencing around the
Meadowmere Soccer field, which includes a decorative fence, and plans for the parking lot to be
expanded. Minnow Loop will be closed for the rest of the summer to prepare for a redesign that will
include creating more parking spaces for patrons at both the lake and baseball activities. Sandbass
Point will reopen this weekend, and landscaping work was completed on the intersection of Highway
114 and William D. Tate.
Robyn Readicker inquired about the progress of the new Meadowmere Adventure Center, which
Morgan addressed. Additionally, Christian Ross raised a question regarding the noise ordinance, and
Morgan responded to that inquiry as well.
