HomeMy WebLinkAboutItem 15 - Pavement Stabilization MEMO TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND MEMBERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL
FROM: BRUNO RUMBELOW, CITY MANAGER
MEETING DATE: OCTOBER 16, 2012
SUBJECT: APPROVAL TO RENEW AN ANNUAL CONTRACT FOR
PAVEMENT STABILIZATION
RECOMMENDATION:
City Council to consider approval for the renewal of an annual contract for pavement
stabilization with Nortex Concrete Lift and Stabilization, Inc. through an existing
Interlocal Agreement with the City of Grand Prairie.
FUNDING SOURCE:
Funds are budgeted in account 174-43301-090-000 (Street Maintenance/Capital
Replacement/ Transportation Infrastructure Maintenance) for the estimated budgeted
amount of$100,000.00.
BACKGROUND:
Purchases will be made as required and in accordance with an Interlocal Cooperative
Purchasing Agreement with the City of Grand Prairie as allowed by the Interlocal
Cooperation Act, Texas Government Code, Chapter 791 and Texas Local Government
Code, Section 271.101 and 271.102 and satisfies all bidding requirements. Council
approved the agreement with the City of Grand Prairie on March 7, 2006.
The City of Grand Prairie solicited bids on RFB #12001 from which they awarded a
contract to Nortex Concrete Lift and Stabilization, Inc. on November 1, 2011. This
contract includes four, one-year renewal options. This approval request is for the first of
four, one-year renewals available.
With nearly a dozen different public entities participating in this cooperative contract, the
collected volume has helped secure a lower cost. Nortex Concrete Lift and Stabilization,
Inc. has provided this service to the City in the past with satisfactory results.
The Public Works Department staff reviewed the contract for specification compliance
and pricing and determined that the contract would provide the best product and pricing
for meeting the needs of the City.
Staff recommends approval.
