Presentation
Youth sports presentations. Andrea Tredaway, Athletics & Hospitality Manager, introduced all the
organizations and gave a brief explanation of the importance of having these groups in our community.
Jonathan Jackson, representative from Mustang Panther Wrestling provided an update on the 2024-
2025 season and used the slides provided to go over details regarding their year. He was glad to share
that when he started the organization, there were roughly ten kids participating and now, they are
starting their season with 54 kids. He now has four additional coaches helping and they are competing
in tournaments and competitions. Jackson took questions and Robertson asked what nights they
wrestle. Jackson shared that the kids weigh in on Friday and tournaments are usually on Saturdays
and sometimes Sunday. Readicker asked if there were any females and Jackson said there aren't as
many but there are a few. Ross asked the age range of those that are participating and Jackson shared
that the organization started as K-6 but now has expanded to K-8. Jackson will step back from coaching
weekly practices but will be managing the administration. It costs $175 for the winter season; that fee
covers the uniform but parents are responsible for insurance card. Over half of the fees goes towards
gear. MP Wrestling donated $800 for low income families to attend a tournament in OK.
Cameron Petty, representative from Mustang Panther Football and Cheer provided an update on the
2024-2025 season and used the slides provided to go over details regarding their year. Petty shared
that Cheer has grown, there are currently 162 girls signed up, whereas football saw a slight drop in the
sign ups this year. Petty shared details that K-3 is no tackle and 4-5 is tackle. The cost to participate in
Cheer is $250 for a new cheerleader and $135 for a returning cheerleader. The uniforms are used for
two years and then they swap high schools. Football is $225 for tackle, to cover the cost of equipment
and pads, and $125 for flag football. Admin expenses are $24. The Mustang Panther organization
provides their jersey and this year they provided padded pants. They currently have 11 voting members
on their board. Petty shared that they will be hosting their annual pep rally tailgate at MP Stadium on
Saturday August 23. They had roughly 400 people in the community attend last year and they have
had 650 RSVPs so far for this year. Petty took questions and McDowell asked if groups were organized
by age and she said there was a change this year and there was more intention when creating the
groups. Similar grade and school cheerleaders would be cheering for similar grade and school football.
There were no scholarships provided for cheer this year.
Brett Mair, representative from Mustang Panther Lacrosse provided an update on the 2024-2025
season and used the slides provided to go over details regarding their year. This will be his last year
with the organization as his son is aging out but he was excited to share that when he came on board,
the organization as a whole was not doing well and through recruiting efforts and scholarships, they
have turned it around considerably. Thie year they raised roughly $10,000 with sponsorships and that
money will help cover the expenses they did with scholarships. They are grateful for the field
maintenance at both GMS and HMS and thanked everyone for their support.
Justin Hibbs, president of Grapevine-Southlake Soccer Association provided an updated on the 2024-
2025 season and used the slides provided to go over details regarding their year. GSSA has roughly
1000 kids each season in the fall and spring, and participation is holding steady, but they are preparing
for an expected increase after the World Cup. Fees are currently $100 and they provide scholarships
for roughly 30-40 kids each year. They currently have a relationship with Solar Soccer Club that helps
what is needed to keep coaches up to date and make sure the kids are developing. The majority of the
players are within the U4-U8 ranges and he shared the soccer is a great introductory sport. Hibbs
2
closed by complementing the fields and said that he has heard from players and other organizations
that have all had nothing but great things to say about the quality and maintenance.
Andrea Tredaway introduced Blake Benavides who provided an update on the 2024-2025 Grapevine
Baseball Softball season and used the slides provided to go over details regarding their year. He shared
that there are consistent numbers in both baseball and softball and he shared that a big
accomplishment was getting through the All -Star Tournament with record numbers and the surveys
taken gave positive remarks about overall experience. One change for this fall was the date cut off
adjustment for age brackets. The new date is Sept 1 and so it falls in line with a school year and grades
versus a calendar year.
Closing out the presentation, Christian Ross expressed the importance of recreation sports.
