This letter confirms on September 26, 2025 the Historic Preservation Staff approved with
conditions #CA25-62 for the property addressed 221 Austin Street, legally described as
Block 103, lot 1 R, College Heights Addition, City of Grapevine to the Grapevine Historic
Preservation Ordinance 91-73 (Appendix G — Grapevine Code of Ordinances), as amended,
for the following:
1. Replace the existing dog-eared style fence with a six foot tall wood, board on board
fence with top trim board and kick board, mounted on metal posts installed on the
inside of the yard;
2. Install two twelve foot long slide gates in the side yard fence;
3. Install a six foot tall walk gate in the fence on the west side of the house facing the
street; Fence is to be stained with "Wood Defender transparent stain in the color of
"Oxford Brown";
4. Install a four foot high iron fence with a self -closing and locking gate in the side yard
area to provide safety for the pool area;
as per the attached plan, specifications and photos with the condition a permit is
obtained from the Building Department.
An approved Ce tjficate of Appropriateness is not an approved building permit; a
building permit(is) is not required. Contact the City of Grapevine's Building
Department at 817.410.3165 for fees and information regarding permits.

On the survey -Yellow Highlighted tine is the fence to be replaced. The replacement fence
will be 6' talt Western Red Cedar in Board -on -Board style with Trim and Kickboard. The 2
3/8" steel posts will be set on 8' centers set 24" deep in concrete.
One the survey - Blue Lines indicates the 2 -12' slide gates that wilt be installed in the
fence line that faces Estilt Avenue. The gates wilt be hung on 4 x 4 steel posts set 36"-42"
deep in concrete. The stide gates wilt have concrete curbing below for the v-track. The gates
wilt be steet-framed and skinned with the same Board on Board style with Trim.
The slide gates wit( be manually operated.
The wood wilt be stained with Wood Defender Transparent stain in Oxford Brown color.
There wilt be a walk gate on the driveway side of the fence. The walk gate wilt be self -closing
and the latch will be at 54" above grade.
All posts will be on the inside of the fence.
