SUBJECT: APPROVAL FOR THE PURCHASE OF EIGHT MOBILE RADIOS FOR
POLICE DEPARTMENT PATROL VEHICLES
RECOMMENDATION: City Council to consider the approval for the purchase of eight Mobile
Radios for Police Department Patrol Vehicles from Motorola Solutions Inc.
for the Police Department.
FUNDING SOURCE: Funds are available in the Capital Equipment Fund for an amount not to
exceed $42,862.
BACKGROUND: This purchase is for mobile radio units to be installed in police patrol
vehicles. These radios are critical for effective communication between
patrol personnel and the Police Department Communications Center,
supporting both operational efficiency and officer safety.
The purchase will be made through an existing interlocal agreement with
the Houston -Galveston Area Council (H-GAC), in accordance with Texas
Local Government Code, Chapter 271, and Texas Government Code,
Chapter 791.
Bids were solicited by the cooperative, and a contract was awarded to
Motorola Solutions Inc. Public Works and Purchasing staff have reviewed
the contract to ensure compliance with departmental specifications and
pricing, and determined that this contract provides the best solution to
meet the City's needs.
