SUBJECT: PURCHASE OF DEHUMIDIFIED AIR SOLUTIONS MAINTENANCE,
PARTS, AND SERVICES
RECOMMENDATION: City Council to consider approval for the sole source purchase of
maintenance, parts, and services from Dehumidified Air Solutions for the
Facility Services Division.
FUNDING SOURCE: Funds are available in the General Fund (Facility Services) for an amount
not to exceed $40,000.
BACKGROUND: This purchase is for the parts, maintenance, and service of the Seresco
Dehumidification Unit that services the indoor aquatics area at the REC
Center. This unit maintains the aquatics space temperature, humidity, and
space pressure. Maintaining this equipment at its most efficient status is
critical to keeping the aquatics area within its operational specifications.
This procurement will be made as a sole source in accordance with Local
Government Code Chapter 252, Subchapter B, § 252.022. General
Exemptions (a)(7)(A). Items that are available from only one source
because of patents, copyrights, secret processes, or natural monopolies.
Dehumidified Air Solutions is the only authorized dealer in Texas. The
contract is for an initial one-year period with two, one-year renewal
options. If approved, this will be the second renewal option.
