SUBJECT: RENEWAL OF ANNUAL CONTRACT FOR CELLULAR VOICE AND
DATA SERVICES
RECOMMENDATION: City Council to consider the renewal of an annual contract for cellular
voice and data Services from AT&T Mobility for the Police and Fire
Departments.
FUNDING SOURCE: Funds are available in the General Fund (Fire, Public Works, and Parks),
the Utility Enterprise Fund and the CCPD Fund for an estimated amount
of $90,000.
BACKGROUND: This purchase is for the monthly cellular voice and data services from
AT&T FirstNet for the Police and Fire Departments. These services
provide essential voice and data connectivity for officers and firefighters in
the field. FirstNet enables patrol vehicles and fire apparatus to maintain a
reliable connection to the City network, allowing computer -aided dispatch
information to be transmitted directly to units in real time. This connectivity
is critical for ensuring timely access to public safety databases and
delivering accurate information to first responders.
In addition, FirstNet services are used by Public Works and Parks
personnel during emergencies to support communication needs as
required.
This procurement will be made as a sole -source purchase in accordance
with Local Government Code Chapter 252, Subchapter B, §252.022,
General Exemptions, (a)(7)(C), which includes gas, water, and other utility
services.
Staff recommends approval.
