Any person who is not scheduled on the agenda may address the Senior Citizen
Advisory Board under Citizen Comments or on any other agenda item by
completing a Citizen Appearance Request form with the staff. A member of the
public may address the Senior Citizen Advisory Board regarding an item on the
agenda either before or during the Board's consideration of the item, upon being
recognized by the Chairman or upon the consent of the Senior Citizen Advisory
Board in accordance with the Texas Open Meetings Act, the Senior Citizen
Advisory Board is restricted in discussing or taking action during Citizen
Comments.

The City of Grapevine Parks & Recreation Senior Citizens Advisory Board met January
6, 2026 at 1:00 p.m. in The REC of Grapevine, 1175 Municipal Way, Grapevine, Texas
with the following members present:

Constituting a quorum with the following members of City staff:
Chris Smith, Director
Trent Kelley, Deputy Director
Jennifer Kashner, Recreation Manager
Megan Varner, Active Adults Supervisor
Megan Holladay, Administrative Manager
Ric Clark called the meeting to order at 1:06 pm and Carey Miller provided the
invocation.

A motion was made to approve October 7, 2025, minutes.
Motion: Member, Miller
Second: Liaison, Boyd
Ayes: Members Clark, Dale, Miller, Holt
Nays: None
Approved: 4-0
Absent: Members Chapman-Gatts, Price
Presentations and Ujpdatew,
Chris Smith provided an introduction and explanation, and then the 2025 Parks and
Recreation Recap video was shown for all those in attendance.
Miscellaneous:
Duff O'Dell provided an update from City Council. She shared praise for the Parks and
Recreation team for a successful CCOT. She shared that the Grapevine Historical
Society will be partnering with S.H.E.I.L.D and hosting an event on February 28. She
shared that there will be elections in May.
Chris Smith provided an update on behalf of Gena Bohl, who was unable to attend, that
was sent in prior to the meeting.
Isabelle Boyd provided an update on behalf of the Active Adults. She shared that the
Senior Chorus would be starting a new program.
Chris Smith provided additional updates regarding Parks and Recreation. He shared
that Eden Hernadez won the Employee of the Year, that the Parks Department had a
successful CCOT, and that we received results of the ETC survey for the Master Plan.
Trent Kelley provided additional updates for the Parks and Recreation Department. He
acknowledge and praised the new chairs in Stewart Hall and shared some of the new
landscaping and projects that would be taking place around Grapevine.
Teri Rhodes Cantu provided an update from the Grapevine Housing Authority.
Megan Varner provided an update on behalf of Active Adults. She shared that Tax Aide
will start February 4 and extend through April 15. She shared that the Valentine's Dance
will be held on February 7. Carey Miller added that he would provide information
regarding Senior Empowerment next time.
