SUBJECT: PURCHASE OF REPLACEMENT OF SHADE FABRIC AT DOVE
WATERPARK
RECOMMENDATION: City Council to consider approval for the purchase of replacement of fabric
for six cantilever cabana structures and four sail shades over the spray
pad at Dove Waterpark from USA Shade and Fabric for the Parks and
Recreation Department.
FUNDING SOURCE: Funds for this purchase are available in the Permanent Capital
Maintenance Fund (Parks and Recreation) for an amount not to exceed
$23,853.
BACKGROUND: This purchase is for the replacement of shade fabric for the six cantilever
cabana structures and the four sail shades over the spray pad at Dove
Waterpark. These shades are more than 12 years old and are beyond
their service life due to fading, tears, and holes. This purchase is for the
fabric, cables, and fasteners for the existing structures.
This purchase will be made in accordance with an existing interlocal
agreement with The Local Government Purchasing Cooperative (Buy
Board) as allowed by Texas Local Government Code, Chapter 271 and
Texas Government Code, Chapter 791.
Bids were taken by the Cooperative, and a contract was awarded to USA
Shade & Fabric. The Parks and Recreation Department and Purchasing
staff reviewed the contract for departmental specification compliance and
pricing and determined that the contract would best meet the needs of the
City.
Staff recommends approval.
