FROM: BRUNO RUMBELOW, CITY MANAGER
MEETING DATE: FEBRUARY 3, 2026
SUBJECT: RENEWAL OF WHAT'S UP GOLD SUPPORT/SUBSCRIPTION
RECOMMENDATION: City Council to consider approval for the annual renewal of What's Up
Gold Enterprise support/subscription from SHI Government Solutions for
the IT Department.
FUNDING SOURCE: Funds are available in the General Fund (Information Technology) for an
estimated amount of$19,000.
BACKGROUND: This purchase will renew the licensing and support for the city's network
monitoring tool, What's Up Gold. The What's Up Gold system
continuously monitors all network equipment and alerts the IT department
whenever devices go offline, ensuring proactive maintenance and
reducing downtime.
This purchase will be made in accordance with existing and interlocal
agreements with Omnia Partners Public Sector, Region VIII Education
Service Center in Texas as allowed by Texas Local Government Code,
Section 271 and Texas Government Code, Section 791. The contract was
for an initial one-year period with three optional one-year renewals. If
approved, this will be for the first renewal available.
Bids were taken by the Cooperative, and a contract was awarded to SHI
Government Solutions. The IT department and Purchasing staff reviewed
the contract for departmental specification compliance and pricing and
determined that the contract would provide the best product and pricing
for meeting the needs of the City.
