SUBJECT: PURCHASE OF SAMSARA TELEMATICS ANNUAL SUBSCRIPTION
SERVICES FOR THE FLEET FUEL TELEMATICS SYSTEM
RECOMMENDATION: City Council to consider approval for the purchase of Samsara telematics
annual subscription services from Samsara, Inc. for Fleet/Public Works
Department.
FUNDING SOURCE: Funds are available in the General Fund (Public Works) for an amount not
to exceed $63,000.
BACKGROUND: This purchase is for the annual renewal of Samsara GPS & fuel telematics
system for fleet vehicles and equipment. The system is used to gather
data for fleet equipment management including maintenance, fuel
inventory control, and equipment utilization.
This purchase will be made in accordance with existing and interlocal
agreements with Sourcewell as allowed by Texas Local Government
Code, Section 271 and Texas Government Code, Section 791.
Bids were taken by the Cooperative, and a contract was awarded to
Samsara, Inc. and Samsara. The Fleet Service and Purchasing staff
reviewed the contract for departmental specification compliance and
pricing and determined that the contract would provide the best product
and pricing for meeting the needs of the City.
Staff recommends approval
