SUBJECT: PURCHASE OF LABORATORY GASES, EQUIPMENT, LAB
CHEMICALS, MONITORING AND FLOW MEASURMENT EQUIPMENT
FOR WATER AND WASTEWATER TREATMENT SYSTEM
RECOMMENDATION: City Council to consider approval of the purchase of laboratory gases,
equipment, chemicals, monitoring, and flow measurement equipment and
maintenance for the water and wastewater treatment system from Airgas
for the Public Works Department.
FUNDING SOURCE: Funds are available in the Utility Enterprise Fund for an amount not to
exceed $35,000.
BACKGROUND: This purchase request is for lab equipment, chemicals, reagents and
minor maintenance of testing equipment. Airgas is the only company who
makes and sources all the equipment needed for many of our permitted
tests for both water and wastewater. The testing and sampling
requirements are critical to proper plant operation and permit regulation.
This purchase will be made in accordance with an existing interlocal
agreement with The National Purchasing Partners (NPPGov) as allowed
by Texas Local Government Code, Chapter 271 and Texas Government
Code, Chapter 791. This is a one-year purchase agreement with no
renewal options available.
Staff recommends approval.
