A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
GRAPEVINE, TEXAS, DECLARING UNOPPOSED
CANDIDATES IN THE MAY 2, 2026 GENERAL CITY
ELECTION ELECTED TO OFFICE, CANCELING THE
ELECTION, AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE
WHEREAS, on December 15, 2026, the City Secretary of the City of Grapevine
posted the Notice of Deadline to File Applications for a Place on the Ballot, and
WHEREAS, Applications for a Place on the Ballot were accepted from January 14,
2026 through 5:00 p.m. on February 13, 2026; and
WHEREAS, on February 3, 2026, the General City Election was called for May 2,
2026 for the purpose of electing City Council Place 5 and City Council Place 6, and
WHEREAS, in accordance with the Texas Election Code, the City Secretary has
certified in writing that no person has made a declaration of write-in candidacy, and that
each candidate on the ballot is unopposed for election to office; and
WHEREAS, under these circumstances, Subchapter C, Chapter 2, Texas Election
Code, authorizes the City Council to declare the candidates elected to office and cancel
the election;
WHEREAS, all constitutional and statutory prerequisites for the approval of this
resolution have been met, including but not limited to the Open Meetings Act; and
WHEREAS, the City Council deems the adoption of this resolution to be in the
best interests of the health, safety, and welfare of the public.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF GRAPEVINE, TEXAS:
Section 1. That all matters stated hereinabove are found to be true and correct
and are incorporated herein by reference as if copied in their entirety.
Section 2. The following candidates, who are unopposed in the May 2, 2026
General City Election, are declared elected to office, and shall be issued certificates of
election following the time the election would have been canvassed:
City Council, Place 5 — Chris Coy
City Council, Place 6 — Duff O'Dell
Section 3. The May 2, 2026 General City Election is canceled, and the City
Secretary is directed to cause a copy of the Order of Cancellation to be posted during the
early voting period and on election day at the designated polling place for the May 2, 2026
General Election being the Grapevine Public Library, 1200 Municipal Way, Grapevine,
Texas.
Section 4. The City Secretary is directed to post a copy of the Order of
Cancellation attached as Exhibit "A" at each designated polling location on May 2, 2026.
Section 5. That this resolution shall be effective from and after the date of its
passage.
PASSED AND APPROVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
GRAPEVINE, TEXAS on this the 3rd day of March, 2026.
