SUBJECT: RENTAL OF HORIZONTAL GRINDER
RECOMMENDATION: City Council to consider approval for the rental of a horizontal grinder from
Powerscreen Texas for the Public Works Department.
FUNDING SOURCE: Funds are available in the Lake Enterprise Fund (Golf) budget for an
annual estimated amount of $53,400.
BACKGROUND: The purpose of the rental from Powerscreen of Texas is for removal of the
accumulated brush at the Grapevine Golf Course. The horizontal grinder
will be used in April to process brush and vegetative debris along the
overhead power lines along the west side of the golf course and other
areas where brush has been stockpiled. Grinding the material will allow us
to reduce debris volume visible from Fairway Drive and produce mulch
material that can be used by City departments.
This purchase will be made in accordance with existing and interlocal
agreements with Sourcewell as allowed by Texas Local Government
Code, Section 271 and Texas Government Code, Section 791.
Bids were taken by the Cooperative, and a contract was awarded Power
Screen Texas. The Public Works and Purchasing staff reviewed the
contract for departmental specification compliance and pricing and
determined that the contract would provide the best service and pricing for
meeting the needs of the City.
Staff recommends approval
