SUBJECT: PURCHASE OF MOTOR VEHICLE CAMERAS FOR POLICE CARS AND
REQUIRED LICENSES
RECOMMENDATION: City Council to consider the purchase of motor vehicle cameras for police
cars and required licenses with Axon Enterprises, Inc. for the Police
Department.
FUNDING SOURCE: Funds are available in the Capital Equipment Fund for an annual amount
of $35,340.
BACKGROUND: This purchase is for motor vehicle cameras in 11 new patrol vehicles. The
cameras are used to capture footage as needed related to police activity.
This purchase will be made in accordance with an existing interlocal
agreement with The Local Government Purchasing Cooperative (Buy
Board) as allowed by Texas Local Government Code, Chapter 271, and
Texas Government Code, Chapter 791.
Bids were taken by the Cooperative, and a contract was awarded to Axon
Enterprises, Inc. The Police and Purchasing staff reviewed the contract for
departmental specification compliance and pricing and determined that
the contract would best meet the needs of the City. The contract was for
an initial one-year period with four one-year renewals available. If
approved, this will be for the final renewal available.
Staff recommends approval.
