HomeMy WebLinkAboutItem 20 - Traffic Signal PartsMEMO TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND MEMBERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL FROM: BRUNO RUMBELOW, CITY MANAGER MEETING DATE: APRIL 7, 2026 SUBJECT: APPROVAL FOR THE PURCHASE OF TRAFFIC SIGNAL HEADS, BACKPLATES AND HARDWARE RECOMMENDATION: City Council to consider the approval for the purchase of traffic signal heads, backplates and hardware from Consolidated Traffic Controls for the Public Works Traffic Department. FUNDING SOURCE: Funds are available in the Permanent Capital/Street Maintenance Fund (Traffic) for an amount not to exceed $47,810. BACKGROUND: This purchase is for three section and four section signal heads, backplates, LED lights and hardware to upgrade existing units out in the field. This will upgrade the signal heads at Ball/Wall, Ball/College, Glade/Champagne, Glade/Baze, and Glade/Euless-Grapevine. This purchase will be made in accordance with an existing interlocal agreement with Houston -Galveston Area Council (H-GAC) as allowed by Texas Local Government Code, Chapter 271 and Texas Government Code, Chapter 791. Bids were taken by the Cooperative, and a contract was awarded to Consolidated Traffic Controls. The Public Works and Purchasing staff reviewed the contracts for departmental specification compliance and pricing and determined that the contracts would provide the best products and pricing for meeting the needs of the City.
