SUBJECT: CCPD RENEWAL PUBLIC EDUCATION EFFORT
RECOMMENDATION: City Council to consider a contract for the public education effort for
renewal of the Crime Control and Prevention District with Mayes Media.
FUNDING SOURCE: Funds are available in the General Fund in the amount of$33,235.
BACKGROUND: In an effort to inform residents of the upcoming CCPD renewal election,
we are asking the Council to ratify a $33,235 contract with Mayes Media
for various public information efforts. This cost includes signs for public
parks alerting the public that there is an election occurring for CCPD, a
mailer to all households, a website, informational handouts to place in all
public buildings, and design of social media posts.
The information provided will include election dates and times and an
explanation on the use of CCPD funds.
Brian Mayes and Claire Reyes from Mayes Media have handled public
education of ballot propositions for the City for the last 30 years, including
bond elections, the initial 4B and CCPD election and the first CCPD
renewal.
Staff recommends approval.
